2004 POTY Results
Posted by Michael on 10 January 2005, 15:49 GMT

We have tabulated the votes for the 2004 Program of the Year award. The results are in and Wacky Fun Random Numbar Generator has swept every category. Just kidding. For the real results, view the POTY Winners page. If you would like to see the original surveys, their results are now visible through the Surveys Index. To everyone who released a program in 2004, thank you, and we send extra congratulations to our POTY winners! Keep releasing outstanding programs and we will have an even better competition in 2005.

Three programs featured and none of them got more than 2 votes [crys on pillow].

There's a typo in my given name on the winners' page. Apart from that I'm happy to see there it in the first place. :)

You should be glad that the name of your game was spelled correctly :)

I'm really happy that Acelgoyobis won for the Ti-83+. It is a great game being that it is the first pinball game every created for it. Wonder if it is possible to creat a pinball game like the one that comes with Windows XP?

I was really surprise when I first got on ticalc to see that there was no realistic pinball games, like this. All I saw were some crappy BASIC pinball games that weren't worth even attempting to see if they were good. I thought that Acelgoyobis would win hands down because it was amazing since there wasn't any other game like it.

I think the next thing for Acelgoyobis would be a graphical, easy to use program that would make and compile external levels on computer without having to make it yourself. Just like click where you want a pixel to be and where you want the walls, so it would be really easy to use. That would make Acelgoyobis an even bigger hit for the TI-83+/84+ family.

I wish there could be something like Acelgoyobis for the 68k calcs. No offense to JcN, but TI Pinball's physics are too... bouncy.

But there IS a table editor! What's the problem with that?

In that case, it would be really hard to do and also pointless at the same time. There's more to the tables than just pixels, lots of things are happening in the background (e. g. slope table generation). The tables already compiled are not suitable for editing any more, so they couldn't be reopened. It's for a good reason that the on-PC save format differs from the on-calc format.

It took a while before we got to know the results and I am very happy that I won. You were just in time for the new version of basicbuilder to go into betatesting stadium. Thus the screenshot will probably be old in a few days, sorry guys ;)

What I find interesting is that games seem to win in almost all categories. Maybe it would be a nice idea to have a seperate vote for games and other (usefull) programs. That way a nongame program might get an award as well.

p.s. In case someone is interested in beta testing you can reach me at the email address in my profile.

There goes my argument of "We (the ticalc.org community) miss you!"

Poor Morgan.

And, it was a while ago. I talked to him about it a bit, and he said something about the ticalc.org staff not liking him. That, and he didn't have enough time.
