2004 POTY Results
Posted by Michael on 10 January 2005, 15:49 GMT

We have tabulated the votes for the 2004 Program of the Year award. The results are in and Wacky Fun Random Numbar Generator has swept every category. Just kidding. For the real results, view the POTY Winners page. If you would like to see the original surveys, their results are now visible through the Surveys Index. To everyone who released a program in 2004, thank you, and we send extra congratulations to our POTY winners! Keep releasing outstanding programs and we will have an even better competition in 2005.

Been waiting for this since Jan 1st.

I figured that Acelgoyobis was a dead lock to win the 83 category, but the others surprised me. Especially since the 82 program won without a vote. Personally, I like Bomber Dude, but it wasn't, by far, the best program for the 68k calculators, at least that's my opinion. I have no comment on the 86 winners, since I didn't play any of them.

But congratulations to all of the featured programs and the POTY winners!

Yes! CivSim got 1%! :D
Great job, everyone. Too bad that WFRNG didn't really win.

WFRNG wasn't even on the polls! This is discrimination, I say, DISCRIMINATION!

They probably did this to be fair to all the other programs, as obviously WFRNG would have swept the polls.

I think the best game of the year is Verdate Forest, its definitly better than the pinball i think. Too bad the external levels hasnt come out before the voting began.

There were many good programs for the 83+...Acelgoyobis, Desolate, Firetrack 2, Verdante Forest, etc. As I've said before, I would have liked to have voted for more than 1 of them, and I'm sure others are thinking the same thing. ;-)

Matter of opinion.

It ran quite quickly on my friend's 83+ Silver Edition.

I hate having to say "83+" instead of just "Silver Edition." Stupid 84's.

Dude. Becarful what you say. I own an 84+ SE. I'm offended by that. so what if you have to type a few extra chacters. be considerate of others.

Well, you *were* the author of Desolate, so it definitely wasn't a nice thing to say to you. But I'm sure you worked hard on Desolate. :)

DS is indeed better that psp, but i wouldnt go as far to say that Desolate is all gfx and zero content. If you dont like it, thats fine ... but you dont have to say that is 'sucks'.

*Shakes head*, Now what is the problem? You have no reason to be annoyed. The posting guidlines clearly state that you must be constructive. Saying that certain programs 'suck' is not constructive, it doesnt help anyone. Would you like it if people started toting on about how much your programs suck? I am not trying to change your opinion, rather ask that you exclaim it constructively or not at all.

Also, i dont care if people voted for Desolate, im just stoked to even have it in the list! :D.

Acelgoyobis is truely a masterpiece and well deserving of POTY. CoBB is a damn genius and deserves these kinds of accolaids for his hard work. Great job CoBB!

It *was* a very hard choice between Acelgoyobis, Desolate, and Firetrack 2...
