Maze 3D Beta 5 Released with Source
Posted by Andy on 27 October 1999, 22:51 GMT
In what Icarus Productions understates as a "big surprise," Maze 3D Beta 5 has been released with the source code included. Maze 3D is a high performance ray-casting engine for the TI-86. For those of you who have been living under a rock for the past few years, a ray-casting engine is what games like Wolfenstein 3D and Doom/Doom II are based upon. It is likely the release of this program with the source will spark other programmers to develop interesting games that make use of this engine.

I think that it's really cool that they released this raycasting engine. Now, maybe we gamers can get a cool looking game where you get to blow stuff up, ya know? I seriously think this raycaster will spark a lot of programming ideas. Maybe a Quake multiplayer game? That would be great.
