Legend of Zelda Demo ported to TI-85
Posted by Kirk on 18 June 1999, 00:09 GMT
Sam Heald of Void Productions has released an Usgard port of the POTM winner The Legend of Zelda Demo v.52.7. This version is nearly identical to the 86 version, although black bordering and masking have been added. In response to feedback, the save function has been removed. As for versions on other calculators, there will be no more updates until the final release. Since the three month work stoppage, the project has started to progress smoothly again. Sam has also released an Usgard port of Yoshi, a TCPA game. These releases mark some of the first good TI-85 programs released in a long time. |

hey, slightly offtopic, but it does have to do with the original statement.
TIcalc said "Sam has also released an Usgard port" How do oyu pronounce Usgard, I always thought it was U.S.gard, say it as 2 seperate letters, but their grammar would suggest it is Usgard, like the pronoun. Someone please clarify this. Am I amazingly wrong, and everything I ever thought about TI-85 Asm is wrong, or is this a typo on TIcalc's part?

I would just like to say congratulations to Sam Heald, on porting all those games to the 85. I've been waiting forever for someone to port all those games to the 85. Thanks!

I would just like to know when the next version or full version of Zelda will be coming out. I mean, the demo lasts for 15 minutes and leaves you wanting more.

Release Dates

I remember reading on the group's webpage that the Zelda game (at least the original version, for '83) would not be updated any more until the final version. It stands to reason that except for bug fixes, the ports ('82, '85, '86) won't be either.
However, as far as release dates on a program, this is one of the NO-NO questions to ask a programmer. Many programmers are annoyed by this question, and oftentimes, a programmer really cannot judge when he/she will finish a project. It will come out when it comes out. The project I really have my on right now, however, is Macross Software's Neontech II engine.

Porting the demo...

Hehehe, it's kinda like releasing the first third of a movie before the rest is done and, hey, while you're at it, putting it on DVD too. :)
I don't mean any offense by this, it just struck me as amusing, especially because I'm making a movie right now and showing it to people after I get done every 30 seconds of it :)
