Street Fighter II v0.19 Beta
Posted by Kirk on 8 May 1999, 18:41 GMT
Thomas Corvazier has made a web page available to the public. The web page, among other things, contains the pre-release version 0.19 of the program that was previously posted here; v0.18 for the TI-89 and the TI-92 Plus is available from ticalc.org, while both v0.18 and v0.19 are available at the Street Fighter II web site. English users will want to use Babel Fish or another translator to translate the page from French to English.

This game looks so cool, which pisses me off because I have an 82 and an 83. Someone needs to work on an emulator for the 83 for all of these games so that there will be more union between all of the calcs.

Uh.. it says on TI's web site what kinds of processors the calculators have - the 8x series has a 6mhz Z80 (mostly anyhow) and the 89/92/92+ has a 10mhz motorola 68000. not only is the motorola one faster, it is much more advanced - it handles multiplication, division, and long numbers. Consider, for a moment, that a PENTIUM is required to emulate the TI-8x series to speed. And thats partly due to the fact that the Z80 and 8086 have similar flag operations! Now you want to emulate a TEN mhz, more advanced chip with a totally different system architecture, on a SIX mhz, less advanced chip. Sure, it can be done.. my guess is that it would run on average at 0.01 MHz (thats pretty small, a better way to say that is 10,000 Hz) - that is not very many cycles per second.. I bet SF2T would be loads of fun that fast (not to mention the even smaller screen)

well actually.. the moves are simplified in the game.. this is what i found out so far
ryu and ken
fireball - down, forward, punch
hurricane kick - down, back, kick
upper cut - forward, down, punch
chun li
spinning side kick - down, up + kick
fireball - down, forward, kick
e. honda
some spinning fly thingy - punch twice quickly
i haven't really played with the other characters (mainly cause guile doesn't work right now.. dalshim jumps slow.. and other things)
i think this is a tight game.. but i'm still waiting for the pokémon game to come out. props out to all the programmers out there who come up with these tight games..
