Bryan Rabeler and ticalc.org Part Ways
Posted on 5 March 1999, 03:42 GMT

We are sorry to announce that Bryan Rabeler, a member of our staff for the past two years, will no longer be contributing to the project. While Bryan has played a tremendous role in making our site a success, we are no longer able to collaborate with Bryan in a beneficial way. We wish Bryan the best of luck for the future and once again would like to acknowledge the considerable commitment he has made to the site in the past.

Yeah, there's more to this story than what they are reporting. Hey Bryan, post the real dope on Dim-TI or Ti-Files or something.

I would rather urge Bryan to post it here on ticalc.org, if he feels it's necessary. I personally guarantee that there will be no 'censorship' of what he writes (as long as he keepts to the rules about such things as language used).

So you're saying Bryan's departure was forced removed rather than by mutual consent. About which, he would be inclined to use colorful language?

Shut up. Both of you. This is supposed to be a farewell Bryan message board thingie, not a good riddance Bryan message board thingie. So lay off the negative vibes. Let's celebrate for yet another incredible devotee to the TI community graduating to a real life!

We haven't chosen who will take care of exactly what yet, but Kirk Meyer is our backup archiver, and we all will be helping each other in the interim while we decide who takes over what.

We're not looking to replace Bryan! I don't want to wake up tomorrow to find 500 emails sent to help@ticalc.org asking to join! :) Just chill and watch. You'll see that everything will continue to work smoothly.

Aha! The truth is out there...

It was a conspiracy by Kirk Meyer to monopolize ticalc.org. First, he took the Reviews from Selle. Then, he took the newsletter. Then, he became news editor. Now, he's probably going to remain hosting director and file archiver.
I'm guessing Rabeler and Meyer were not "collaborating" at all, and the other ticalc.org members sided with Meyer. You might have noticed that recently many new hosted sites have enlisted, and they each have gotten their own news article. Last week, sites were announced four at a time.

Ok, let's explain why this one isn't true right away.
Kirk took over reviews by Andys request.
He was given the newsletter to even the load of work.
He was already working the filearchives, so there is nothing new there.
He will not be taking over hosting.

So no, Kirk is not working on monopolizing ticalc.org. I'd say it's more the other way around.

I beleive that the reason for how hosting sites were announced is simply because of when they opened. Sometimes they open at the same time, sometimes not.

Yes I noticed that. Ya know it's funny; some of them aren't me. It seems someone likes giving me credit for things I did not say.

KAKE

bryan has been a hell of a bloke, and i'd like for him to put in his two bits. still, i've got a lot of respect for everyone and ticalc.org, so i'm sure that this wasn't some quick little thing. keep up the good work and make sure that your axle grease is readily available.

Now wait a minute... were you even online or a TI-Files member when that incident occured? I don't think you were. What happened several months ago should have ended several months ago... Bryan apologized, as did other respective contributers, so discussion should have closed there. Besides, being the newbie that you are, how can you possibly know exactly what happened and what drove Bryan to do that? I think your post is totally off topic; if ticalc.org were to fire Bryan because of that incident, it would have happened a long time ago. As far as I can tell, the two occurances are completely unrelated.

Um, JeepMan was online before the TI-Files were even thought of. Although I agree, his comments were off topic and pointlessly abusive.

I am entitled to my own opinion. And Newbie my ass. I've been in the TI community for a long time. I started my own site when all the big sites started. So what if it failed. But newbie I am not. I know what happened, I have always been there.

So, what happened? Did he "hack" another rival site? Although, I wouldn't really consider it "hacking" if some idiot just gives you the password...

So how old are you guys, anyway? 11? 12?

REAL pathetic....

You wanna know what's pathetic? YOU! You come on these comment boards like everyone else, and you joke them... so in essence, you are only making fun of yourself. I am possibly the youngest coder in the "TI Community", and I think people like you are a disgrace to the human race. Good day to you sir.

Oh yeah, you seem like a real "genious". Learn how to spell the word someday and maybe you'll become one.
