[Zelda 89 Screenshot]

CCIA has released six screenshots of their upcoming game, Zelda 89. One of those screenshots is displayed to the right. A public beta version should be available by Christmas. For more information on Zelda 89, check out the CCIA website or visit channel #ccia on EFNet.

I hope you'll use a routine compatible with the 92 Plus for the keys because there's one ?!?

Nice shots.. are they real?
I'm in the team that's doing Zelda for TI85.
I'm in charge of graphics and your project looks very similar to ours, with the difference that you have chance to use bigger sprites(16x16?) because of 89´s bigger screen and faster processor...

Actually CCIA was coming out with it first, and later on the TI85 crew starting making one, as well as a couple of other calculators I believe. But if you're both basing it on gameboy it's possible that they could be similiar. Check out their website and go into the "Projects" section to see the six screenshots and also one screenshot for another game they might make: Downhill Racing 86. Their website is the URL above, and I had to put it their because ticalc won't let you use words over 15 letters.

I made it first.
Then again, i havent worked on it for 7 months. It was however a quality demo, featuring the first dungeon of zelda. While this is only a microsm of what should be completed with Zelda 83, it is still better than what anyone else has done. If anyone wants to try to complete this "behemoth" of a game, then they can inquire within.

CCIA announced theirs first. That doesn't mean they were first into developement. There _is_ a difference :P

Becuase the TI-89 has the same screen width as the Gameboy the tiles from Zelda89 are identical to those on the gameboy. Zelda for the 85 has redrawn tiles in way smaller resolution based on those of the gameboy. Still looks cool tho :)

I don't care who made it first as long as the games are good.

On the contrary, I was the first to make Zelda, earlier than everybody else. However, when I released it to the Iraqis, Saddam sent me Zelda's body in a little box. That's when I gave up :)

ACTUALLY!!! Nintendo was the First to make Zelda... This will Not turn into one of those discussions like we had about Mario for the 89. =P Well, we know that the one that is in Beta for the 89 right now, is awesome! so anybody who wants to compete and Think they can do a better job, then go ahead, and we'll have a better Zelda than this one, im not sure that it could get any better though ;) Well, if the dispute is about who came up with the idea to make a Zelda game on Any TI calculator, well its not about who was first, just go ahead and keep making your version of a Zelda game. Its not like we can get a port of this 89 version to the 86, so start from scratch like you have and develope that game. Im looking forward to it since I dont have an 89... =)

What I want to know is, are either one of you guys
done yet? No? Well then stop your belly aching.
Nintendo doesn't announce their new "break through" games untill they are about to release them. So why should you? Why get are hopes up, and then delay the release because it "took longer than expected." Plus, you guys are programming for 2 different types of calculators - a rewrite would have been needed for a successful port anyway, why not get started now?

Not quite...
Ctrl-Alt-Del

Nintendo doesn't announce games ahead of time?! Can you say "Zelda64"? They announced that over year before it was released. And Nintendo did the "we'll release it later" thing with the 64DD. So until you get your facts straight, please don't make comparisons about things you don't know completely everything about.

I don't really care either who did start it first, but I know almost for sure that Zelda82/83 was the first to be made. That's not really what I meant who did it first, I just wanted to tell the guys at CCIA about our project. Later I heard they are talking with our coder almost daily, which means these projects are both raising together. So everyone should really stop fighting about these games. As you all know, little competition just makes products better:D
My best wishes to CCIA for their project, it looks great at the moment.
And thanks to all the "fans" of the Zelda85, keep your faith in us, we won't let u down.

Alright, two questions, although they've probably been answered already. 1)When's Zelda85 coming out? and 2)will there be a 86 port? :o) I know I may sound "lame" (so you people don't have to tell me that) but, as far as I know, there's no zelda games made (or being made, for that matter) for the 86.

Now, Macross Software's Zelda(for TI85) will be out for beta testers probably in January, then when it's ready and runnin', for everybody.
There could also be public beta, who knows...
And sorry, there will be no port for ti86.
But you all will probably find it very useless, since the game will be fully compatible with it!!
In other words, Zelda:reckoning time will work in both ti85 and ti86. At least this is how we have planned it...

im wondring how your gonna do that? make it for both. ti-86 can't run ti-85 games over 12k or something like that. are you gonna split the game up into a few pieces like quest or is it gonna be small? and how good is it gonna be if it is small? and if you are gonna split it up how come every programmer doesn't jsut do that in the first place?!?!?! save them the trouble of porting it later

I'm sorry that my answering took so long, but I haven't been visiting ticalc as often as usual(3-5 times/day =) anyway, not onto your questions...
actually I don't know exactly how our coder is going to make it work in both 85&86, but he said he probably will. I am not a great ASM coder so I don't know much more, but it will probably be split into two parts(since 85 has very limited memory capasity..) And no, the game will not be small... it should last for very long in original zelda-style:D

Zelda 0wns

in my point of view, i think that a port is not needed for the 86 because Rascall (OS for 86) has 85 emulation.

While rascal does have 85 emulation you need to take in also that it has a size limit. And I think a game as epic as zelda may surpass that limit. So creating it for both calcs is necessary unless an onslaught of 86 users is a good thing.
