Question
|
How is the rating of a file calculated?
|
Answer
|
File ratings are calculated using a weighted average of user ratings,
rather than a straight average, so that files with a large number of
high ratings will generally receive a higher rating than files with
just a few, and files with many low ratings will likewise receive a
lower score. For instance, if a file
has mostly ratings from 8 to 10, and one person rates it a 1, the file
will still have a higher rating than it would if all the ratings were
simply averaged together.
Because of the weighted average, it is also possible in rare cases
for a file to have a rating of slightly above 10 or below 1. This is
normal.
