I dunno. The only games I ever play are in PuzzPack (83+) because the stupid TI-Graph Link broke the COM port on my Dell. Why doesn't TI make a graphlink for USB ports? they're a lot faster & there are more of them. As for shells, I use MirageOS which is OK but I'm developing something better. But FlashApps are nostub. Just follow the keystroke: [ON], [APPS], [^] or [(flubbernutters! no down ascii character)]. Oh, & check out my dancing jesus website. Voted on kcom.org/jimbo as the 1st STRANGEST site ever. And no flaming! you flamers! lol

OKAY. That doesn't help much. I'm another plonker who kinda needs help on this 'nostub' Lingo. Any clues.
And check out TI's web site - they have got a USB link I do believe.

Thanks man. I'm gonna try to get it. I think I accidentaly put one of my BASIC files in an ASM directory. Does ticalc.org actually check if they are ASM or BASIC? I tried resubmitting it in the BASIC archives about 4 fricken weeks ago & now I'm p!$$ed! Oh, & nostub means executable from the home screen (TI-OS) whereas a shell is a type of OS sorta that only detects & executes certain file types (like Ion only executes programs written in Ion.). Like Alex Roper (acr34) said above, some shells (like MirageOS, which can read almost anything except TSE) have the ability to organize programs into folders (which are stored as AppVars). If you have a TI-83 Plus, use MirageOS (in the FlashApps section). If you have an 83, use Ion. TSE II for 83+ I haven't tried, but it sounds cool (multitasking! not even MirageOS can do that!). Now the best nostub games are FlashApps like PuzzPack because they don't take up any precious RAM. Hope that helps you somewhat.

Oh, & for 82's, I guess ASH or CrASH. I don't have an 82, but MirageOS executes ASH & CrASH.

I believe shell/kernal ( and I'm not completely sure... this is just an educated guess ) means that the programs are dependant on external libraries for all their functions, like graphical and text stuff, and that they require a program that launches them ( they can't be run from the home screen ) such as DoorsOS or UniversalOS.
Nostub means, I believe, that the program is self-sufficient, and uses the functions that are in the library of the GCC ( or whatever... the thing... the program on your comp ) that you're using, and don't necessarily need launchers unless they are too big and you have to "enter_ghost_space."
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Oh my god is this poll TI9x centric!

On a TI83 and TI83+, nostub programs have no place. Everything runs on a shell, either SOS or ION. Or it's a flash app. Or it's Joltima, the only good nostub program for the 83+ :)

It's hard to find really good stuff that's noStub, because all the good stuff seems to be with the kernels, but after wasting a lot of time with multiple unsuccessful tries trying to get kernal-based programs to work with AMS 2.05, I'm not trying again. More noStub programs need to be made. Libraries make it easier for the programmers, but not for the users. Just like when you download a program in Windows and it won't run because it's missing a DLL file.

Note: please don't start a flame about Linux/Mac/etc. vs. Windows. Thank you. :)

Well, I have a Ti-89 HW2 calc running Universal OS with the HW2Patch installed. I ONLY have the libraries stored in the archive and all programs that I run that require a library it works fine and the calc doesn't crash.

I can't seem to install HW2 patch because it says my calculator isn't a AMS 2.05 calc (even though it really is). I tried every version I could find.

I tried to install Universal OS, and then tried playing Super Mario Quest and the game itself worked fine but the level editor either crashes completely or back to the Home Screen with "Address Error" in the status line every time I try to load or save a level. So that's kind of useless. I'd rather not mess with kernel programs.
