For the first time in my life, First Comment!!!!!!!

First three votes are all honest. I doubt anyone will admit to the dishonest option. They lie when they upload, they'll lie to the survey.

Congrats on the first comment!

I think that too, people aren't actually going to admit to that. I believe this site records your vote, so they could check and see who the evil people are who upload other's files as their own. I upload other people's files, but for a different platform, and I say they wrote it, but give myself credit too.

I don't think we tie user votes to their account. I'm almost certain that we simply flag that you have voted in a particular survey, because a situation once arose where we discussed different things about our surveys.

Anyhow, I'm not a systems programmer, so I don't *know*. But I highly doubt it. ;)

I never considered this.

I never really considered the fact that someone would upload other people's files. Besides, if I ever programmed anything I think I'd perfect it and upload it before I let very many people use it, and if I did let them use it it would be for test purposes only. This is an interesting survey.

I think Basic Language programs are not as popular as assembly ones, specially games, but I think anyone should at least program something in basic and upload it to ticalc, just for learning, or for having the experience of being in the list of programmers, as a first step in your career... That's what I did and I did it just for trying, after all we're just students, but I considered that I won't upload something bad, so I wrote the whole program, it took me 3 weeks and was my first real basic program. It's not worth the download anyway.

if you upload a basic program not worth downloading then you deserve to be shot.

If you don't deserve to be shot then you didn't upload a basic program
</BAD LOGIC>

Seriously, I've uploaded about 10 basic programs, and of those 2 are worth downloading, one just for its math.

The reason most BASIC programs are bad isn't really due to BASIC's limitations; its because people who learn BASIC (Its really intuitive, not learned) don't think to check the archives before uploading their own Pythagorean Theorem or Distance Formula.

ok, i'm just saying, uploading a program that you KNOW that no one will find usefull, or interesting or anything is just plain dumb. over a period of time, it costs other people lots of money and time. (takes longer to load screens, must stay online longer, 5 extra cents per minute...) AND, it makes people spend 5-10 minutes getting it on to their calculator ($1 worth of a minimum wage job times 1000 people who do it over a period of time)... so you're costing the public thousands of dollars if you get down to it... (yes i probably exsadurated a little bit... but you're making people angry when you do that)... now, you made a good point, let's count how many quadratic formula/law of cosines/sines/pythagrean theorum/ EVERYTHING there are. i don't mean to offend anyone, just trying to knock some sense in to people... i have an idea; have user ratings for each program like ti-fr and stuff... that would make it all better. (# of downloads doesn't always tell the truth)

Some BASIC programs aren't all that bad. I created a Conic Solver for the TI-92+ that calculates the stuff for you at a reasonable speed. It beats having to work the stuff out by hand for 10 minutes! Programs with a definite purpose (i.e. Not a random number generator, or the inverse trig functions) shouldn't be shunned just because they're in BASIC.

i totally agree 100%... there are some very good BASIC programs out there... but no one looks in the BASIC archives cus there's too many pointless programs to read past.

Most people completely skip the basic archives. This is due to the fact that you will find most of the same programs in the assembly section. Most of the assembly programs are higher quality and faster just because the coders of the asm programs are usually more experienced than the BASIC ones. If you want to submit a BASIC program and want it to be seen, take a quick course in C and convert it to that. It will be faster and more likely to be downloaded.

That's a good one, maybe I can convert my program to C, then it can be worth the download. However my program uses TI89's functions, so If I convert my program to C maybe the only improvements it could get are in the menus, but it won't be faster. Maybe someone find my program interesting and can see if it's worth the convertion to C. Please tell me, my program is dynamic graph

How do you know if it is worth downloading - someone might need to use something you've done to help teach them basic.

After consider using a program that makes the machines goes slower. Seems pretty useless but a lot of people can make use of them.

Ok, I deserve to be shot, but my program it's not worth the download because it makes animations of parametric functions, and may be used while drinking tea in the afternoon. (my program is dynamic graph)

You should put some of your programs together and put them in the archives - some one might appriciate them.
Give yourself more credit.
