They keep getting smaller. Just look at the FAQ of the 83, 83+, and 83+ SE. The 83+ has the question "Why is the 83+ manual thinner than the 83 manual?" The Silver Edition FAQ has the question "Why is the 83+ Silver Edition manual thinner than the 83+ manual?"

What's TI's response?

For the 83+ SE:

"Why is the manual so much smaller than the TI-83 Plus?
In order to provide a more useful resource for you, a new "Getting Started Guide" was created. This guide provides short, easy examples and descriptions of the basic, commonly used features of the TI-83 Plus Silver Edition.
A complete and interactive electronic version of the manual is available on the CD included with the calculator and on the Internet (when available). This electronic manual provides a search feature to quickly find specific words or functions, "quick links" throughout the document to other places within the document, and a few other enhancements."

That's no good... the great manuals are what make some of the current TI calculators, such as the 89 and 86, so easy to use. If you have to go out of your way to a computer to access information about how to use your calculator... well, it can't be good...

This is true, unless you can put it on your Jornada. Even then, it's virtually worthless. The book format is the best way to keep needed information orderly and accessible in times of need. I hope YI doesn't keep doing this. Of coarse, if it's some of those low-end functions, etc., then it really doesn't matter.

Cheap bastards, going to CD instead of continuing to use the paperbound books. It is so convienient to just look through a book rather than start my computer, wait for it to load, open the tutorial, find the information I want, memorize or print it, close the tutorial, and shut down my computer. Honestly the situation with that company gets worse and worse every day.

hey, you don't have to start up your computer every time you want to use it. just sleep it (Mac users know what I mean) or put it into Stand-By (Gay name, Mac users all agree that PC users are dumd and stupid) just don't hibernate it, because it always crashes that way on my peice of shit Compaq w/ Miccrosuck windoze ME (what a gay name). My Mac on the other hand never crashs (love my iMac wouldn't trade for any top of the line PC)(Second thought, maybe a 733 G4)(or a cube).

OK, first of all, how do you write asm on a MAC? Second, how do you upgrade without buying a new computer?

The older macs were hard to upgrade, but the G4s have expansion slots for upgrading, except the G4 cube.

SE/30's are easy to upgrade. (You just need a special tool to open it.) (BTW: 68k Macs Forever!!!)

Apple has a tool called MPW for assembly programming. Why you'd want to use it, considering all of the other options available to you, is the real question.

You can upgrade the processors of most desktop machines. You can upgrade the RAM. You can replace or add hard drives. You can install PCI cards to do all sorts of things. You can put a faster graphics card in the AGP slot of the G4 towers.

For the 89, why doesn't someone just convert the manual into several E-Books? Any time you needed to use the manual, you could just read the e-book off our calc.

Yes. Finally a new survey! I have a suggestion to the ticalc.org staff:

Display how many comments have been posted on the survey below all the buttons.

This would make it easier to know if anyone has replied to a comment.

i wonder if it would be possible for the cookie to store the time+date that you last visited ticalc and then all new comments since that last visit would be in a red box instead of blue.

Yeah, I usually do. Mine is so special, it has earned a nickname because it is so destroyed from being stored in my backpack, Bag! (it has to be stored in a ziploc bag or it will become worse)

Sounds like mine - It's covered in crushed-up graphite from broken mechanical pencils, and it's missing both covers and several pages :)

After reading your previous entry, I was able to infer that you cannot spell well yourself. Why the hell do you dis other people for things you do yourself? I'm sick of reading your posts that litter the threads like ****. So either start acting more mature or get the **** out of here!

PS: Insert the four-letter words of your choice within the asterisks

I don't think he'd find it so funny if we made fun of his poor grammar. Where's the comma after the first word of his serious line?
