This survey idea was actually inspired by an email I received asking if I knew of a place that sold hard cases that would fit the v200. I actually wondered how many people bought separate cases for their calculators, so...

Your friendly neighborhood leatherworking shop, some assembly required.

My TI-92+'s snap-on lid is fine, but "No, & the sliding case seems no good, either" would apply to my poor old TI-86, so often the victim of annoying people wanting to see what I was doing (& then it falls to the floor, they get scared, & usually never bother it again).

sliding case is fine...
As long as you remove it instead of applying it the other way around, what leads to many "oopses" and "bangs" when it meets the floor XD

Soft cases? Hard cases? I don't think so.

Real men carry their calculators in a calculator hip holster (CH^2). See URL for me practicing my draw several years ago.

You should also keep a backup TI-36X solar in an ankle holster just in case your batteries go dead. It could save your life in a shootout.

And don't forget the ammo belt of spare batteries! 4 new batteries in the hand are worth 8 in the bush...

If all else fails, you can hurl a handful of dead batteries at your adversaries.

Well normally yes, but the TI-36X doesn't pack as much of a punch as 4 dead AAA batteries!

An entire TI-92+ packs much more punch if one is in a dire enough emergency (though, since they are discontinued, I do hope no one intends to destroy any).

Well, I admit a dedicated TI calc holster would be pretty cool, I always put my 89T in my pockets. It never falls out, so the only reason I use the sliding case that came with it is incase I slip and fall on my side, or so I accidentally turn on the calc. Another question, the 84+SE has almost the exact same case as the 89T. Is TI getting lazy, because the only real case difference on the 84+se and the 89T is the 84's changeable faceplate...

I believe that the two calcs are exactly the same size. Their slide cases are interchangable.

Yes they are, the slide cases are exactly the same and can be "mixed and matched." I have both kinds; I can test this.

If I could find eBooks of my textbooks (in a format compatible with my PDA or calculator) I would not need to carry a backpack (except, perhaps, for paper for those classes that still use it, though paper could be stored in a small binder instead). I would pay for them (plus, they should be cheaper than the paper book); it is just that there are none.

Actually, if you have patience, you could type them on your computer. Since I've never figured out how to use TICT's ebook generator, I use TI's TI-Reader instead. Just type up the textbook, save it as a .txt file and use the TI-Reader generator.

There are 3 problems with that, at least in my case:

Copyright - but I think that would be fair use if you paid for the book & did not distribute the file
Size - textbooks are huge (too much data, or at least too much typing)
Content - pictures & oodles of special symbols (at least in computer science-related texts)

Only the too-much-typing objection applies to the PDA, but it still outweighs the book itself (pun intended).

you just need scanner software that reads text that would make the job of typing them in lots easier

I know the feeling, I have retired my TI-85 to only be used for simple stuff like adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, and solving pi (yeah, it cannot be done, I said this only to make you laugh (as the one reading this text on your computer, pda, cellphone, or possibly your calculator)).

It would also help to work on finger speed so you can type those equations quickly, dividing the keypad between both thumbs. ;-)

Chuck Norris has twin Voyage 200's in hip holsters, a 36X on his left ankle, a BAII Plus on his right ankle, and a bandolier of AAA batteries with a pouch of button cells. He roundhouse kicks HP users.

Ha ha. Gotta love chuck norris, though I've always had him figured as a TI-89 guy. Their slimmer design would impead his roundhouse kicks less.

The funny part is, I was just looking at chuck norris facts earlier today at www.chucknorrisfacts.com.
