What about the "NO, I don't want to waste batteries while not using my calc. I already burn through enough as it is."

If you're burning through batteries so quickly, consider investing in rechargables. That's what I use; of course they must be recharged periodically (~once every 1-2 months), but they'll last years (maybe decades...)

I have never needed to replace my calc's batteries; thats about 7 months and I use it every day.

Right, but are those alkalines or rechargables? Rechargables may be a little less convenient (and the initial investment is rather steep in comparison to a pack of 4AAA alkalines) but they will last longer and will pay for themselves over time.

I have Alkalines, but do calcs really work on rechargebles, since they have a lower voltage?

Well, I've had rechargables for ~10 months now in my calc, so if they're not working, someone forgot to tell my calc that. But yes, rechargables work just as well as alkalines, despite the lower voltage (1.2V vs 1.5V). As far as I can tell, the only difference is the rechargables don't last as long as a single set of alkalines on a single charge; since the alkalines start at a higher voltage, it just takes them longer to fall below the threshold voltage for calculator operation.

The clock on the 89 is pretty useless because when you run certain games and programs, the clock won't work. I'm not really a programmer, so I don't know why this happens (interrupts??). Perhaps someone else can explain...

I also own the 89, but I have never experienced this before. None of the programs that I have run have ever interefered with the clock.

As I am a programmer, I have used the clock feature in a program. Using sin() and cos(), I made an analog clock that updates the time with the clock feature getTime() (or something like that). The only problem is that the trig. features make the clock have 61 seconds every minute! This is actually a pretty pointless program, but I had too much free time in math class!

I'd be interested to see what algorithm you used to get 61 seconds....

almost all games use low level keybord reading. inturupts 1 and 5 screw up lowlevel keybrd reading, so they must be disabled some how. one way is to disable inturupts 1-5. The clock is inturupt 3 so it will loose time during the game. many redirect inturupts 1 and 5 to do nothing which also solves the key reading problem and dosn't screw up the clock.

Sort of ironic that that's not even a full sentence, with way too much capitalization... :-D

I believe that now is the time to plug Timerize:

If you have a 68k calculator and HW2+, please contact me at my linked email (bfortin.83@gmail.com) to test Timerize 1.7 Release Candidate. Advantages: credit if you find a bug or suggest an improvement or tell me that "this feature is a pointless waste of space: delete it posthaste".

Also, if you have an 84+ or 84+SE, go download Timerize 84+, Timerize 68k's sibling.

Timerize 68k 1.6 (if you don't want to test): http://www.ticalc.org/ archives/files/ fileinfo/362/36251.html
Timerize 84+ 2.6: http://www.ticalc.org/ archives/files/ fileinfo/341/34185.html
Remove spaces, as per usual.

What does 200 bucks have to do with telling time?

Maybe he gives people money if they tell him the time. Or maybe, if he doesnt have his cell, watch, or pda, he goes to some store and buys a cell, watch, or pda.
