i picked 80/81/82 because i've never really held one before, but judging from the fact that they are older than the others, they may be heavier and therefore deal a more hefty blow to my enemy ;)

The TI-80 is really small & light (it looks almost like a plain scientific calculator, except for the screen, & it runs on 2 button batteries), & the TI-81/82's are about the same size & weight as the TI-89 Titanium, so they would not do more damage than the others.

A cost effective alternative would be to use a 92 for such purposes. Which has been nicknamed "The Brick" by teachers and students alike. They suffer a lot of drops every day and so, seem to be durable. You might damage the calculator if it's thrown at someone, but if you hold one end and wack them over the head with the corner it should hold up. ;-)

To be honest, if it were truely Life or Death, I would be willing to destroy any calculator. I mean, Life is more important then a calculator to me (I still love calcs though).

True. But given the choice, which would it be? (73 for me...)

What about an option that says casio CFX or HP-49. I'd choose one of those instantly. Because of the lack of those options I chose chicken out and pick this b/c I would never destroy a ti calculator. While, maybe I'd burn the 73

The HP-49G+ is a very nice calculator. Go ahead and smash a Casio, but HPGCC is hot stuff.

Given the choice, I wouldn't.

Nice handle.

I agree; I use both my TI-89 and HP49G on a regular basis.

Most of my comments have been deleted lately. Maybe I'll try putting the subversive stuff in the middle this time.

I voted 73, but I would not like to destroy any calculator. If it's Turing-complete then it gets special protection in my book. Of course, it has to be functional.

If you seriously apply this to the calculators you have it would be very hard! I have 2 86's and a v200...the v200 would have to go! However if I could include my roommates crappy 83+ SE, it would be gone in a heart beat :-)

BAH! Chicks dig the clear case and larger ammounts of RAM.

Silver Edition rocks!!!!

What do you mean "83+SE sux0rz!"? The regular 83+ has a microscopic archive and a processor that runs at a snail's pace, not to mention that the silver edition looks cooler. The 83+SE should be called TI-83 Plus Reloaded. It has 9 times the archive space and a 15 MHz processor vs an 8 MHz processor running at only 6 MHz.

84+/SE sux0rz!!

84+/SE = 83+ in an ugly case with a clock and USB port and a rip-off price tag

Arrgh, I would trade away any 5 TI-86s for a V200... For now, though I have to stick with my good old 83+

I'd be happy to take those 5 86s, even though I don't have a v200...

Actually. The TI89 Titanium (and TI84 series) are ugly and bulky. The only "good" thing TI did with them was add more FLASH. However, they could have added a bunch more. It's the year 2005 and FLASH is soooooo cheap. I was hoping for a SD card slot. I guess I'll hang on to my TI89 HW1 until the next iteration.

What really stinks about the 89ti is how the link port is sunk way back in there. I tried to stick my link cable into it but it wouldn't fit. (It's an old-school one though - the kind with a bent head.)

Yea, that's a total stinker I agree...

When I bought my TI-Keyboard and it came with the old-style link cable with the kickstand that doesn't fit with the bulky case, I had to file the link cable down to fit. There are ways to do it, but you'd be better off with the new link cables with straight ends...
