Ticalc.org has articles not on the front page?

Haha I have never read articles on ticalc.org, though I've been here for a while. Also, I have an idea.

Personally, I have trouble making sprites that look good on a calculator screen (very low res). What if ticalc.org made a folder somewhere with sprites (8x8,16x16,etc) that could be used in various games? All calculators have the same issue with low-res (well, maybe not the 89). This would also allow people to get ideas and have better quality games (graphic-wise). What do you all think?

I don't think it would increase the variety in the archives.

I just read lord_nightrose's (At least I think Michael McElroy is lord_nightrose) article.

Running out of ideas? Not likely. For the 68k's, we are seriously in need of:

- a WYSIWYG text editor that supports grayscale, different font sizes, bold/italic/underline, etc.

- a game similar to Lotus, but for the 89 (V-Rally only works for 92+/v200, and doesn't support tunnels and dynamic elevation angles)

- a multiplayer FPS with more than one weapon

- a turn-based strategy game (like CalcWars) with an AI. (Warning: Shameless plug: TankWars has an AI! See link)

- a 3D grapher faster than the built-in one, preferably with grayscale

- a spreadsheet program that doesn't crash when you edit cells (referring to TiSS)

- a Geometry program (like GSP, but free, faster, and preferably with grayscale)

- an image editor that supports rectangles, filled rectangles/circles, lines of varying thickness, grayscale, and floodfill. Mainly the floodfill.

- a 3D editor that doesn't crash as much as Edit-3D

The possiblilities are endless.

A multi-player FPS that doesn't use up all my RAM would be great! Ooooh! Don't forget the ray-tracing engine (with grayscale!)!
I wish. :'(

Even the z80 calcs could use some programs...that spreadsheet program you mentioned reminds me...it would be great to have a third-party spreadsheet program that doesn't crash when you try to save (CSpread). A WYSIWYG text editor (again, like the one you mentioned) would also be nice. ATE for the 86 is great, but you can't insert greek chars, the text is only 1 size, and the bold/italic/underline/strikethrough tags don't actually make the text appear bold or whatever for some strange reason... The 83+ is in even more need of a new text editor.

CellSheet (z80 or 68k version) seems reasonably full-featured to me as a spreadsheet program. Its syntax on-calc is pretty similar to Excel, and there is a converter that'll let you import your CellSheet files into Excel and back again, when you're at your computer. It's excellent for collecting data in a lab, doing some preliminary analysis / histograms there, and then importing to Excel for some more pretty graphics etc.

And it comes free with TI's new 'designer calcs' liek the 89Ti and 84+SE.

I also just read his article and must say he sums it up well. The ti community needs people that can take charge of the situation and write some code!

P.S. The app version of Edit 3D has been very stable for me though it is horribly outdated.

I guess that just shows how utterly out of touch I am when it comes to ticalc.org...I visit here so infrequently, and I post even less often.

Gosh, 2 posts in the same day...haven't done that for over 4 months at least.
