Hmmmm.... Do that many people even use these porgrams. I mean, they are all good, and have high merit, but really, I don't see them used by that many people.

I voted VTI 3.0a.

As far as the number of 'files' released by each...CalcCapture has to be the most widely used!

That got my vote. It is the only (well best anyway) program that will capture a screen when the calc is running something.

I voted the same. A lot of people probably use VTI (mostly assembly programmers)-it's prevented at least 50 crashes of my calc!

i chose VTI 3.0a, just i wish more work was being done on it. it appears that no one is working on the project, or it has become dormant. however, it still shows promise.

Something wrong with featured programs page?
nolekid  Account Info

This is sort of on-topic, since the POTY nominees are this year's featured programs (I think), but has anyone looked at the featured programs list (see URL)? Under July 2003, both VTI 2.5b, not the new, 73/83+ only VTI, and Super Mario 86 v.095 are listed. Neither of these programs has been updated in 3 years, and they are listed as being featured 6 months ago!

Also, would it be possible to change the voting system, so that you can vote for everything at the same time? I'm not a big poster for sure, but I do come every few days for updates. I totally missed the 83 voting, which, outside of the occassional times I get tired of the menus and lack of built-in features and pull out my 86, is the only calculator I use. So now I wait several days for all the voting to end so I find out which programs won, and I don't even know what programs were on the list.

VTI 2.5 and Super Mario v0.91 were both added to the featured program list this year! I did announce that VTI 2.5 beta 5 was featured....but it was only noticable for a few days as an update to an article. There are still a few remnants of it on the link above...notice that the "GO RUSTY" is kind of out of place. The original update said "Found it kind of odd that the most popular file of all time wasn't featured, thus it has now been featured. Super Mario was featured based on our rules!

Did anyone here vote for Ti-power GOLD? I think it would encourage a lot of people who don't know assembly to make something useful.

TI GOLD is an excelent prgramming utlity, the problem is that there are very few 86 assembly programmers out tere, heck there are very few 86 basic programmers as well!

Morgan, you can program for the TI83, 83+, and 86 with TIPower GOLD. Nobody seems to realize this.

Virtual TI will never be updated again. TI has decided against it.

3.0 was just a demo, needed the 83+/SE/73 rom in the folder to work.

Umm, I don't think you know what you are talking about. TI was not responsible for VTI. At least not that I am aware of.

In the end, they had a say in it from talks you know nothing about, so I probably shouldn't have said that like that.

Same conclusion.

That's stupid. 3.0 finally allowed applications. They should do one more update to create a completely working 83+.

Well, this is truly depressing news... Are you able to say more about why they asked you to stop? Fear of people who didn't own the calcs using it with illegal roms?

That sounds like a legitimate fear to me. Perhaps if we could get everyone that is useing ROMs illegally to stop, say that they are sorry, and promise not to do it anymore, TI would change... But I doubt that will ever happen. :(

I am not sorry.

If I am making a program for the 89, I should be able to test it on the other 68k calcs. I don't understand the problem. Like it was said earlier, VTi could be like a demo product for TI. I don't understand why TI has a problem.

When you purchase a calc, you also purchase a license for te OS specific to the calc and its updates. To Run VTI you need a ROM image which cantains a copy of the OS (I believe) or an OS its self. Since your using the OS with out a license, your testing that program illegaly.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Favorite PC Program for 2003?

I just don't understand why TI would make you need a licence for it. It is not as if TI is losing any money. If I did not have the ability to test things on the 92+, and wanted to, i would be out of luck, because I am not spending $250+ on a calc solely for testing purposes.

There's no problem with you running the OS of your calculator in an emulator, so don't worry about it.

WHY WOULD TI POSSIBLY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH VTI??? I MEAN, THEY RELEASE THEIR OWN SIMULATORS FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. THERES ROOM FOR MORE THAN ONE EMULATOR IN THIS WORLD!
