I think some of the poles should stay around a little longer... anyway, both, i'd like to read the newsletter.

"poles"

Well, I think the POLLS (note the spelling) shouldn't be up longer. It's fine just the way it is.

* ON TOPIC *

I like the program of the month thingy. What happened to it?

I had an idea. Could they have more than one poll (two or three, for instance) up at once? They could still add new polls as often as they're doing, and just close the oldest poll when the newest one appears. Have the two or three newest ones open at once and you can have each one open for a while, while still having several new ones coming in. Each poll would last until three new polls start.

Oops, I said "two or three" but my example was assuming there were three. I'm in a hurry and am writing too fast. :-) Hopefully, everyone gets the idea I'm trying to give.

I understood :) We had a conversation about this a while back... most people said it would take away all the good poll ideas too quickly and we'd run out of good polls. Plus, people wouldn't have time to read them all (unless you spent too much time on here, like me). I didn't think it was such a bad idea, but they do have some good points.

Not simply more polls... longer polls.

Actually, it would work.. they don't have to make more poll updates, they just let the existing polls stay open longer and simply add in the new one at a convenient time, like once a week or fortnight, or something. It will give those people who don't visit as often more chances to put in their votes and let them put in a couple comments for them too.

Putting in lots of polls would be overwhelming, for poll takers and poll givers. It can be good if there are only a few polls, but having more than one open can let people's discussions stay fresh.

Y'know.. I think it'd be cool if we could have a general message board.. something that would expire posts older than a week to make sure topics are current.

That's been discussed and discussed (mostly by my impatience)... they will consider that when most other updates are through with.

The thing is, they should save all of them in an archive... it's so much fun to read over them. Good old days (well, kind of in the middle, but yeah)

I know it would be hard to 'move' everyone to Calcgames.org but we have a non-calculator world disscussion area. I know its not in the format here but it might suffice.

I didn't know they had "poles" here. Anyway, yes i agree because I hate posting something only to not get a response because the polls have already changed

I started using ticalc.org about 2.5 years ago, after both of those were cancelled, but they sound like great ideas- especially POM, the newsletter is kind of pointless since most of us visit the site every day and see the news headlines.

Actually, the newsletter has things that one doesn't see here normally, like interviews, etc.

I definately agree. I'm pretty sure they'll be working on that soon enough, though.

DANGIT, that was a <sarcasm>perfect</sarcasm> time for somebody to steal my TI-89. It's really hard to review games with VTI, since it's not the same.

It's close to impossible to test games for the TI-92+ if you don't have one. VTI does not do well at all handling keyboard input for the 92. I design all my games for multiple platforms, though, if I ever get my hands on a 92+/V200 I'll compile for them.

I had the text adventure game in my RAM when my TI-89 was stolen. If I were to write a review, it would be positive, since I really had fun with the Pirate Adventure (or whatever it's called).

Hey, did you change your screen name? Because a long time ago, I remember somebody named chemautotroph, except it was written in 13375p34k, and their ID was much lower.

I do have to agree, vti 92+ allways crashes, even when i put the 89 version on it, that i know has never crahsed on a real 89.

Hey if you want I can help develope games (as in testing) that will run on the V200 since I have one. The most annoying thing about games that are ported to it are the key setups.
