The answer is most definatly "Most Time" They have to be able to update the archives more than once a month as it is now.

I always thought you had to test files that are uploaded in order to keep unwanted content out of the archives, as ticalc.org got in trobule with ti before.
so you do need a varitey of calculators.

No, we don't test all files. At the first layer we have automated systems that filter some parts out. Some programs are tested just to be sure, other times the archives just shuffles through the source (assuming Basic, usually) to get a good idea.

We test some, certainly, but not all. In many cases you can determine wether something is appropriate or not without actually running the program. Not with 100% correctness, but that's what the Report Inappropriate form is for.

True, which takes a lot of pressure off the archivers. :) I think that if the program were BASIC, then, you could just skim through the source, and if you find a naughty word, then... do something ;) and if it doesn't, then it's probably fine. And if you're not 100% sure, then run it. :)

That would be great but TI (or us) would have to implement all the technoledgies and stuff into BASIC that is out there and make it a heck of a lot faster.

Known name - Someone who's popular, I'd assume a big, popular game-making person.
Cool name - Um... well, I don't see why that would make me prefer one guy over the other, but maybe my preferences are different... I don't know.
Many calculator - this way, they can test more games better
Lots of time - (BEST OPTION) - so they can put lots of time into the archives by uploading a LOT of files, instead of just uploading one a day
Good programmer - this seems to me like it aligns with the first option, somewhat. Or, they could test the source code... I don't know lol

Well, for you to have the ROM legally, you need to own the respective calculator, so I guess that "Many calculator[s]" is more appropriate than "Many ROMs" since you need the former to have the latter.

I was too lazy to do so for my 83+ and 89, but it is still the law.

Okay, I did that. It worked :)

But how do you download programs from TI without being a member of their site? I filled out the application form, but when I clicked "Next" (or whatever accept button it was), the page just reloaded. Is their a way to bypass being a member? Or did I do something wrong when I tried to sign up? The programs were free and all, so I just do not see how you need to be a member of their site to get their apps (that's why I am a member of ticalc.org. Free progs!).

That's why. That's a benefit to becomming a member of their site. Also, make sure you enter EVERYTHING you can, if it's personal info just make it up :p Also, try signing in afterwards, if it doesn't work contact TI. Also, on my old computer (from like 1994) the site wouldn't function properly for some reason, but on my new old computer (newer than my old one, but still old :-p).

Good luck :)

Why does it not receive your ROM? Be more specific as to what happens when you try to dump your ROM image.

Here is a possible list of errors that may have occured:

>you did not successfully recieve and run prgmDUMPROM while the calculator was plugged into your computer
>you did not successfully install Virtulal TI.
>your calc's ROM has been patched or modified
>your memory is damaged and/or blocked
>your GraphLink is not compatable and/or is damaged
>your GraphLink is not correctly plugged into your computer
>your linking software is faulty
>anything else that other people can think of

it's not archivers job to test every game and get screenshot for every single one. Else the games would be backed up to like, 3000 lol. Besides, most programs uploaded are basic, who needs a screenshot of that? Also, you don't need lots of time to update, just a couple hours out of your day each day, 15 hours a week perhaps, should suffice.. I don't like any of the options, but the one I disliked the least was "lots of time".. why wasn't there a "will do a reliable job" option? ;-)
