I can't really see it working... Maths teachers would be better than someone teaching you over the 'net...

WTF? Anyway, I don't see how this could work at all... $39 is WAY too excessive, and you almost need a real person near you for tutoring...

Who would pay $39 an hour for that??!! If a kid were really in need of expensive tutoring, why couldn't the parents just hire somebody?

Oops, I forgot to make a meaningful insight.
I guess this is in some ways a good thing, and yet it will seem somehow impersonal, getting instruction over the internet. On the plus side, it will help newbies get aquainted with their 83+.

I believe this to be the only reason why this might be a good idea. There are **many** teachers out there that know little about their calculator(s) and therefor cannot help the sudents this way. Of course they can always show them how to do the work by hand, but that would defeat the purpose of even having a calculator.

I always thought that there should be a tech class in high school that offers the students the ability to get to know their calculator better ad what it is capable of doing. That way 83/83+ owners would finally realize how crappy thir calcs really are. 68k is the only way to go. :-)

Getting N00Bs aquainted with their TI-83 Plus? How hard is it to figure out. That's why it comes with the guide, it's not too hard to figure out. And at $39 an hour!?!?! Seems like a rip-off to me. LOL, just my thoughts!

There ar sooo many people that know less than 10% of their calculator's functions. And they see the guide as something they could never learn, so they don't read it. Sad!

I know!! That's excatly what I was going to say!!! The really sad thing is that no one wants to read the manual because like you said it's impossible or they just don't feel like it. But, it's their own fault because they're missing out. I just wish I could help them!!

Yes, I suppose it is true that most n00bs look at the guide as a cryptic book. But, even without the guide it's easy to figure it out. I mean, I'd rather devote one or two hours to finding how to do it than give away $39 that could be spent elseware (Such as on a TI-89, which I really want...). Anyway, it really is quite easy to figure out.

Most people would never go through about 100 pages of calculator manual stuff- they'd rather try to figure it out for themselves, which usually doesn't work.

Someone should create a shortened version of the manual as 68K eBook, or as a NoteFolio file (83+ users only).

Well hey, I figured out what practically everything on my 83+SE was by experimenting, using Catalog Help, and having a couple geeky friends who were doing the same thing and sharing experiences with them. I have really never looked at the .pdf/manual that came with my SE.

Yup. There should be a tech class for 68K as well, designed for people who have already taken the z80 tech class and went out and bought a 68K.

How do they charge by the hour if they say they'll answer the question within 24 hours? $39 * 24?

That's for non-realtime questions, in which case they charge you $20 minutes worth per question.

But 1 minute is *only* $.65 USD!!!!!!
