Integrated Desktop Released
Posted by Michael on 26 April 2003, 21:42 GMT

Olivier Armand has released Integrated Desktop for the 89, 92+, and Voyage 200. This piece of eye candy will add your programs as icons to the Apps Desktop that is in AMS versions 2.07 and 2.08. It has built-in icons for popular programs, but you can also create your own.

Update (Michael): A new version has been released, with a bug fix. Download it to prevent crashes.

Please, give me more details about this problem.
(if you downloaded ID a week ago, you should re-download it, the TI89 .89z file was corrupted)

You can send me your icon for GT. If it is a nice one, I can add it to ID's package.

Olivier, could you please address my above questions about your dubious collection of games? I would really like to know how you did it, so I, too, can have a similar collection.

Wow. Thats the prettyest thing that ive seen for 92, 89, and that voyage thing. But sadly i am but a measly, say, 100 dollars away from getting a beloved 89. All i have is a crappy 83.(pardon the crappy because my calc is my best freind in the world)

Well, I have an 83+ se and have been seeing 89 stuff for a while now (3-4 years) and quite frankly, I don't understand any of this stuff. Could someone direct me to a thourough 89 n00b5 site that explains this stuff?

HWx is the hardware number (1 or 2 at the moment). 2 is for the newer versions, but seems to cause problems with some games (?)
AMS x is the Advanced Mathematics Software - the OS to us lowly z80 calc users.
I don't have one of these flashy calcs, but those are guesses as to what those terms mean.

Yeah, for the most part he is correct. I myself don't even understand what the "hardware" thing is, but I do know that 2.08's desktop thingk was useless until now. That is the main reason that I've held off the upgrade. Ah, just one more thing to confuse people wanting to use my calc.

The Hardware stuff is the differences between the two HW stuff. I don't know about internal stuff that makes compatability issues but as far as I can tell HW2 has more memory, faster processor, and a higher contrast screen. I also think that there are some internal optimizaations that mak it more than 20% faster (12 MHz proc vs. 10 MHz proc).

Someone correct me if I'm wrong on this.

The differences in the hardware versions of 1 and 2 are mainly #2 has a faster processor and that something is different with the LCD refresh rate on HW2. There is no memory difference. AMS 2.05 on HW1 actually has about 10 bytes more than AMS 2.05 on HW2 does. It is the way that the AMS handles the memory that is different. HW1 users can just download maxmem and have the same free space as HW2. (TI did something that allowed about half of HW1 flash to only be used for user programs.)

Hope that made some sense...

Your almost right. HW1 with maxmen only has 640KB of archive so you can't fit everything on it that you would be able to for a HW2 calc.

HW2 calculators have also only 640kb of archive memory.
