Wolfenstein83 Released
Posted by Michael on 22 March 2003, 22:55 GMT

Peter Bucher has released Wolfenstein83, a raycaster game for the 83 and 83+ with remarkable graphics. In fact, the graphics are some of the best you will ever see on the 83+. Gameplay is slick as well, and there's an on-calc map editor. There are nine included maps, so you will have plenty of material to play with. This is definitely worth checking out if you have a 83-series calculator.

Ah, great, all the good TI-83 games are coming out after i got rid of my TI-83 and got a TI-89. Oh well, there is still VTI. Anyway, the game looks really great. Keep up the good work.

Well, you have to wait ;-) They said they weren't hiring any reviewers currently until they get some other "behind the scenes stuff" done.

Yes, thats true, but there is one (at the bottom of the /89/asm/games/ dir) which is R E A L L Y good. The problem is that there is no specific thing to do. If it was ever to be completed...w0w!

d00d, that game is 80m81n9 (don't ask). The graphics are amazing, but if you can't do anything but kill stuff, then it's only good for amazing people with the graphics capability and potential game "coolness" of the TI-89.

I saw a french demo of chronotrigger it was pretty good, it run quickly and smootly, if that is ever to be released... I want a TI89!!!!
I was thinking someone should make an emulator of TI83 for the 89, a port of Wolfenstein83, Gemini, Phantom and Mario83 wouldn't be nessesary anymore as you could load it to your 89 and then using the emulator you could run them flawlessly, it is a good idea (I think)...
Also someone could explain me how works 89 FAT engine, and if it could be used in TI83 games like Gemini and Wolfenstein?

That french version of Crono Trigger is also in English and is called Crono Fantasy. Go to timetoteam.fr.st for more.

Visit tict.ticalc.org to find out more on FAT. It is a raytracer that displays variable horizontal perspective and fixed vertical perspective.

Yeah... I say very odd words that make so sense at times... "bombing" "that stinkest" "p00p! to you"...

But anyway, I was just wondering (randomly again), is there anything in z80 ASM for the TI-83/+ that you CAN'T do for the TI-82? Is that why most games aren't ported from the 83/+ to the 82? I never really used 83/+ z80, so I don't know all the differences.

Wow! I saw this item and I Immediately pressed download! It's just a very good game, I loved it on the PC and I might (I didn't tried it yet) like it as well on the ti.

A good job Peter!

My apologies if this has already been discovered/discussed, but I think I found a cheat in Wolfenstein83. It wasn't listed in the keypresses of the Read Me file..

At any time during the game, hold down the Down arrow and press [MATH]. You will get 100 health, all three weapons, and 99 ammo to be shared amongst them (fool around with it and you'll understand the ammo thing).

Sorry to Peter if you didn't want this to be figured out! B)

Speaking as one of the people who live to cheat, in light of this new post, I will download it as soon as my mom leaves, and does not know I am downloading things.

Some how I got a really wierd forth weapon. It was some flashy thing that used up a ton of ammo 'cause I couldn't get it to stop. Once my ammo was down to 50 (yeah, I cheated), the weapon disappeared.

Something tells me that that is a glitch. Maybe you should check with someone with a little more knowledge about the game, before you take my word for it.

He most likely added it for testing purposes. When one makes big games, they like to be able to test it right away (instead of beating through lots of levels). I ran into that with my KBL game. BTW, I heard a lot of people saying that it crashed on their calculator... it runs on AMS 2.05, not 2.08 Sorry :( ^^^^^^^^

Will you fix the contrast bug that drops it down to 0 when going to the second screen? Anyway bust a gut and click on the link above. Its flash and can take a bit to load but high quality entertainment.

Stick death? Hehe, I'll have to check that out ;) *must make reminder*

Yeah... it's not really a bug... I just kinda forgot that the contrast level changes along with the batteries. At the time when I added the contrast thinger, it was at the "perfect" level. Now that my batteries are a little lower... it's not. I know what you mean, and it wouldn't be all that hard to fix.

A contrast level of 7 or 8 would be fine. My calc is on and has seen the sun some and 8 is to dark so I go with 7.

How do you find the number level of the contrast on the TI-89? Are there any ASM functions that can let me jump to any contrast level directly? In C, you can only move it up and down :(

I was looking around on the calculator with Command Post to see if I could learn a few things before/while I start programming C. The address is 23440 in decimal. I've only lerned TI-BASIC but I started learning C on Saturday. I've worked with C++ before so the syntax is easy. I recomend dropping the contrast down all the way then moving it up to 7 or 8 (0x1-0xf is the range).
