TiLP v5.00 Released
Posted by Eric on 25 February 2002, 21:36 GMT

Romain Lievin has released TiLP v5.00 stable, his popular link software for Windows, Linux and Mac. Version five includes support for the TI-73 and TI-83+ as well as full FLASH support for all calculators that support it. It's intended to be the final release of TiLP (after almost three years of development!), so check it out.

But... but... you haven't ported TiLP to the .NET Framework yet!

.NET is stupid. Microsoft is just trying to make you buy the same product as many times as possible, so that it can get as much cash as possible out of you.

You could qualify that comment, but I doubt it would be worth reading.

Before the depleateduranium dies, Magua will put under the knife his children so the depleateduranium will know that his seed is wiped out forever.

...

When the depleateduranium dies, Magua will eat his heart.

On another note, seeing all the comments on pi, can't you just calculate pi by multiplying 4 by an infinate pattern of fractions? Like 4(1/2-1/3+1/4...1/27...) or something?

Finally something related to TiLP:

It is a fine program. Much better (faster, mainly) than TI Connect, and it works on multiple platforms. It is indeed worthy of infinite w00ts.

And what does that mean? Insanity is hereditary.

Both. I kinda had to rush through the book because I had a deadline (a report). I need to go back and read it again.

Hey Clifford (I presume that's what you mean by BigRedDog ;), many functions and irrational numbers, like pi, can be obtained from an infinite series of fractions. pi = 4*(1 - 1/3 + 1/5 - 1/7 + ...), or 4 times the sum of (1/(4n+1) - 1/(4n+3)) where i goes from 0 to infinity.

Sine can also be represented as a sum of fractions. sin x = sum of x^(2n+1)*((-1)^n)/(2n+1)!, where n goes from 0 to infinity, and x is in radians. In other words, sin x = x - x^3/3! + x^5/5! - x^7/7! + .... I found this in a dictionary under the entry for sine.

I don't want to get in too deep here.

My last name happens to be Clifford, so it all works out :)

I really can't believe you came all the way down here and actually replied to my comment. There are over 300!

As for the pi thingy, I just read Simon Singh's book "Fermat's Enigma". It had some interesting stuff on pi (I couldn't find the book when I posted the comment) like any river's overall length compared to direct length was ~3.14 to 1 on an average of most rivers (it went more in-depth, but I am running out of time here).

w00t for TiLP 5.01

What I did to get my ROM was to back up all the files on my calc, clear the RAM and Archive, and then get the ROM. This let me get a ROM, if only I could get it to work with vTI...

People send me few bug reports. I have upload on ticalc.org a new release of TiLP which fixes these bugs:
- ROM dumping (under Windows)
- sending of vars with TI83+ (all platforms).
- parallel link cable problem under WIndows NT4/2000/XP .

Have fun !
