SilverLink USB Drivers Released
Posted by Eric on 2 January 2002, 06:51 GMT
Romain Lievin and Julien Blache of the Linux Programmer Group have released a set of drivers for SilverLink, TI's USB link cable. Both Windows and Linux drivers have been released, so developers will be able to easily use the cable now. Check out the project page for screenshots and more information.

Wow, that's great! But why do people buy the USB graphlink for $50 when they can get a black one for $20.00? Is the USB graphlink somehow better?

Do you ever have anything relevant and/or productive to say? Or is that beyond you abilities?
I respect your right to your own opinion and your right to state it, but you do not have the right to belittle others merely because they do not agree with you.
I do not hate you; only dislike the disruption you cause. And do you ever have something positive to say about others? I must commend you on you tenacity, but is it worth it?
If you're civil to people they are more receptive of your view, dissing people only makes them angry. You don’t' have to agree with others to get along, and contra wise disagreement does not warrant animosity.
I myself am only dismayed and slightly annoyed,
So if it makes a difference you only spurred me to this posting, in 2 minutes I won't care.
And to everyone else, don't say anything, don't reply to him. It only shows him he is getting to you. I will confess to hypocrisy, but this will be the only time I do this. He can post, and well have to look at it, but don't let it get to you.
To TI-Calc Staff: feel free to delete this; I know this is not the forum to post this, but I don't know of another way to contact him.

Wow, I just checked that program out, and actually, it seems like it'd be a neat little program. My Desktop has a tendancy to become cluttered (because I don't move everything off to My Pictures, My Music, My Videos, etc. often enough), and if I still used my calculator regularly, I would definately use something like this.
A silly idea, but a useful one, and I'm glad someone has decided to make a program like that. Congrats.
Makes me wonder if someone else who is ranting against it has actually read the program docs?

Because USB doesn't suck to deal with. I hate having to deal with serial and parallel port devices. Everything on my PC is USB. The serial and parallel ports are even disabled in the BIOS. I have a Microsoft Natural Keyboard Pro, and it has two USB ports on it, similar to Mac keyboards. I can easily plug the mouse into the keyboard, and have room for an extra device, such as a Gravis Gamepad Pro, or a Handspring Visor cradle. Windows 2000 generally supports USB devices very well. Just plug them in, and they work. Plug in the gamepad, fire up MAME32, and it works perfectly with no fuss. With serial or parallel port devices, there's always something you have to mess with. Sure, I like playing with stuff, but not all the time. When it comes to hardware, I just want it to work. And before you say it, yes, I know, I should just buy a Mac.
