New TI Sweepstakes
Posted by Eric on 10 May 2001, 07:36 GMT

Continuing its recent unprecedented trend of offering prizes galore, TI has announced a new "Wanna Win a Car?" Sweepstakes. This seems to be the latest in TI's efforts to publicize their new website (There, we linked to it. That should be enough publicizing :). Anyway, if their intentions aren't clear enough, the potential prizes should be: they've got camcorders, backpacks, walkmans, T-shirts...and oh yeah, a 2001 Ford Mustang. Check it out if you're interested.

HA!
I entered the day it came out! Before it was posted by anyone as news! Oh well, there's about a 1 in 1,000,000,000 chance of me winning anything. The only thing I can actually use in there is a camcorder, and I already have too many shirts.
Once again, my needless rambling.

I don't intend to be crude, but if you look at the bottom of each page for the prize site, you will see a graphic to click on to return. I think it's rather humorous, though, that this image looks a lot like an erect member. You'd think in the course of design someone would have looked at it and said, "Gee. If I were as sick as Olinthiac, I might think this button looks like... Dear Lord!"

I guess i just don't see it....

Phallic objects are great, but this definately doesnt look like an erect member, thats for sure.

All disporportionate - huge "ball" tiny, bent arrow shaft.

Its a limp penis with elephantitis of the testicles at best dude.... that or a back button.

Hey,
I thought this contest was Celebrating the release of the Silver Edition. So Why Aren't they giving avay any calcs. This kinda confuses me. I know A mustang is nice, but i would also enjoy a brand new TI-83 with expanded capabilities.

sorry for being off topic do delete me if you must :) but i was wondering if it would be logical to create eBooks for highschool text books. All that u would need for your classes would be a calc and a pencil! no more lugging around 60 pounds of books

Yeah, that's a great idea. What about diagrams/pictures/non-text stuff, though?

On a related note, has anyone heard anything about the TI-86 eBook reader? I heard that Kirk Meyer was working on one, but I only saw that on his site, not anywhere else.

is eBook cabable of pics? I know it is stupid to demand fr0m programmers, and i am not, but if it were, or if it is now, it seems that text books would make lots of sence

The calc wouldn't have enough memory for everything, but a PDA like the Palm or iPaq would work great for that. Although things like pictures and such would take up a lot of room, and unless you had a more expensive color device, would not look very good. Plus the screen is very, very small compared to that of a textbook, especially if you consider the dpi that books are printed at. Trying to look at a PDF with a regular monitor will show you that.

For just text, like an English book, it would work fine.

I gotta say, I'm finally glad to see a car being given away with a Manual tranny. It really is a shame to see any ponycar/musclecar bundled with an auto :(

Also, I gotta say, what's so wrong about Japanese cars? They're better made cars that have an equal balance of performance and stability, and with gas prices as they are, won't send you bankrupt either.

Domestic cars are nice, you just pay too much for too little.

Quite racist, I see...

Which speaks for most Japs...

Thanx 4 proving a point!

BTW: If the Japanese auto makers would make a muscle car (read: V8 engine), it might be better than the Americans, but until that day, Mustangs beat ricers.

We don't need people like zak vargas in the US! Go back to your own country if you don't consider yourself an American for living here!

2 things assumed in this post: you're azn and you live here. Plz say yes...
