Flash Savior
Posted by Eric on 26 April 2001, 18:25 GMT

From the depths of France comes yet another interesting idea for the TI-89 and TI-92+: an aptly-named Flash Savior! If you're an astute one, you might guess that this program saves deleted files from your FLASH ROM. Yup. By running this program you can now recover programs that were lost due to erasure or calculator crashes. Perhaps this will help encourage use of the FLASH memory...in any case, a nice achievement by Julien Monville and Thibaut Barthélemy. Thanks to tinews.net for the heads-up.

I always maintain a backup of my programs on my computer. In fact, since I use TIGCC, most of my programs are written on my computer!

It is always a good idea to maintain a backup of your calc on a computer. Then, you still have everything, even after a hard reset.

Marvel vs. Capcom

I know this has nothing to do with the subject, but the so-called author of the new asm game marvel vs. capcom contacted me and said he did not submit the game and there is no such thing as the library named Delib. Who would do such a thing and when will i get my hands on the actual rainbow-scale?!?!?!?

Obviously there is no such thing as "rainbow scale", or "Delib" or Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for the Ti-89.

If you don't beleive me, look at the program in a text editor. It just repaets the phrase
"Marvel versus capcom for ti-89"
over and over...

Plus, the filesize is over 64 kilobytes, the maximum amount for any TIOS variable. He screwed up =)

Yeah, and screenshots are just cheap resized computer pics! Look at the letters, they're just about two pixels high!

BTW what's up with that new SF2? Link appears to be broken! Or is it another Marvel vs. Capcom?

sf2 is real, actually, there is just a missing byte in the files. that can be fixed with a hex editor(if i can figure out how!)

Is there a way to run SF2 1.0 beta on a HW2 calc?
(it always freezes on mine)

When I start the program, it takes the contrast all the way up. I can't do anything except press escape on. When I press escape on, it exits, and I have to turn the contrast down. I have an HW1 max-memmed 2.04 89.

I use UniversalOS, and I cannot run this program (or FallDown by T. Fernique) from the TICT Explorer. It says 'filelib' is missing. When I try to put 'filelib' on the calculator, it says "wrong version of 'filelib'". The calculator is an HW1 with AMS 2.05.

The reason it did not work then was an old filelib library (why are the libraries not updated in the lib folder?). After I put the necessary libraries (from the DoorsOS II 0.98 zip file) on the calculator and ran it, it increased the contrast and later showed an error message (don't remember what), and when I tried to run it again, it said "Address Error". This problem is not unique to FlashSavior, though, I seem to have this problem with any program which requires filelib.
