As a long-time beta tester of TICT, I would like to say farewell to such a great person and programmer of TI's. His smooth attitude and great ideas made him one if not the most popular and best author around. I wish he wasn't leaving of course, but all good things must come to a close (sad, yes, but true). He inspired so many people to make programs and he has made so many wonderful projects. He set the standard for quality and excellence. I wish him good luck on his future opportunities.

DAMN! You found my evil past! This is when all the posts were on-topic, and I didn't have a clue about ANYTHING about calculators. Then, I changed to no_one_2000_, and that's how people know me today as the PARADER and so on... Oh yes, and I DO know stuff about calculators now... and I program too.

I enjoyed Thomas Nussbaumer's programs so much. This is very sad news. I will miss Thomas Nussbaumer's presence in the TI world very much. He has accomplished so much. I would like to thank Thomas Nussbaumer for all his efforts and developments.

perhaps. i was on the TICTEX beta team and Tom ran everything well, and i think we all thanked him for his great work at some time. one hopes he'll be back...

It's true that a lot of people probably didn't personally thank Tom, but there's nothing wrong with showing some respect for all of his work, even if you never did send him a postcard. He ran TICT for free (I assume) because he enjoyed it, enjoyed programming, and enjoed helping the community. I'm sure he also appreciated the personal feedback he recieved, and I'm sure it helped to motivate him, but I doubt it was why he started TICT in the first place. So, what's wrong with posting about how much you appreciated Tom's work? Perhaps more people should hvae sent him emails are whatever, but there's nothing hypocritical about the last post.

Anyone who knows Tom better is free to correct me if necesarry =)

Ok, now if everyone here, that Loved to see programs come out from tom, were to email him, how many emails would that total up to? Lets see, we have the entire TI community. There's a nice little thing to open up to. open up your email account. Tom you have LOTS of new messages. He'd probably think someone bombed his email, that would suck. So it's easier just to post it up here so everyone knows what you feel and besideds there isn't anything that is not too impersonal about sending a message on here. I'd do it. I am doing it. Thanx Tom for makeing such awesome, and useful, programs for the TI community.

wow...that kinda sucks...i just downloaded the new FAT engine and was so amazed by how good the program was. Tom, you have such a wonderful talent, and it will be missed. Good luck!

Then I'll change my taste a bit! Yay! I'm so excited!!! I'm going crazy, not having that preveiw program. :P

How come nobody ever told me Windows 2000 wasn't for games :-P I don't play many games on my computer, but when I do almost all of the ones I run work fine. Plus I run a web server on this machine (but my DSL connection is down :( ), mail server, and do all of my other computing tasks on here. All on a little Celery 500 with 192MB of RAM. Oh yeah, I also have Office XP Corporate Preview Beta (a.k.a. RC1) since I was a beta tester for Office.

From what I've seen about Windows XP, I see no reason to upgrade to it. Just because it handles multimedia better in the OS itself than Windows 2000 doesn't make it all that much better. Windows XP uses the exact same core as Windows 2000, even using the same drivers. And compared to Windows XP, Windows 2000 is lean and fast. My 192MB of RAM will barely be enough for Windows XP.

233 Mhz Pentium 2 processor or compatible processor (300 Mhz suggested)
64 megs of ram (128 suggested)
2 Giga bytes of free hard drive space
SVGA plug&play monitor
Mouse
12x CD-ROM or DVD-Rom drive

Those are just a few of the cool new features.

You will have to upgrade from Windows 4.0 (with Service Pack) or Windows 2000 Proffessional. Windows Me won't upgrade. You'll have to make a clean install (erase your current OS) if you're using Windows 3.1 (obviously), Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition and Windows Me. You can upgrade to XP with 2000 because of the same (generally) kernal.

That was THE single most idiotic thing I have ever seen posted on this site. Leave the man alone. If he wants to be in the armed forces, let him, and don't criticize him for it. Without people like him, we wouldn't have any defense. Hell, if I were ever drafted to the Army, I would run like mad for Canada. He has made a choice to defend what he believes in and that's what keeps our world working. And the whole spy plane crap is just one big joke. We got the crew back, so who the hell cares about the damn plane. Most of the high-tech stuff was destroyed any way. Every one is so concerned with defending the honor of the U.S. that no one would ever think about compromising with anyone. We have no respect for anyone other than ourselves. We think that we can solve all the problems of the world. Look at the Aswan Dam. We thought that we could help Egypt by making it. Instead we destroyed the Egyptian economy by wrecking the Nile Delta and making an infestation of parasites. The U.S. thinks it can solve problems that it can't even comprehend. Communism is another example. We thought that communism was the parasite of the Earth. We knew that there was no way a country could survive with it. So we tried to destroy it with war. If we knew it couldn't work, why didn't we just leave it alone and let it die by a sort of natural selection. It would have saved a lot of lives.

The only good thing about our country (well, maybe not the only thing) is that we have a constitution that allows for all people to have equal despite religion, sex, race, and everything else. But I find it a hypocritical form of law because we cannot escape discrimination and that is unfortunate.

Now, back to our real subject, Tom. Without his great work, the calculators would not be where they are now. He has made some great programs and I would like to thank him for all his hard work. His absence from the calculator world is a sad one, but it was inevitable. I mean, at least he didn't die or something!

When the French were at the end of their rope, I believe it was the Americans that picked up where they left off, and finished construction of the Panama canal.

Combat Engineer is about the best military occupation in my opinion. If it needs to be built, we build it. If it needs to be destroyed, we destroy it. If it needs to be dead, we kill it. If it needs to be alive, well, I don't think we can help ya there.

The constitution amazes me. Although it has been ammended several times, it still remains intact after 200 years. Sure, other governments may have lasted longer, but all they have on us is a head start.

Now, back to the subject at hand. Thomas, you will be greatly missed. I really like the eBook reader, and I was looking forward to MuttRock3D on my TI-89. I hope you will consider releasing the source, and letting other people pick up where you left off. Sure, it won't be the same, but it will get done.

I would have to agree with most of what you said. To tell you the truth, I'm proud of the people willing to go into th navy and army, etc. and risk their lives like the people aboard the plane (which is, as of now in China). Like you said, if we didn't have people like them, America wouldn't be. I solute you! :)
