TICT-Explorer v1.0 Released
Posted by Eric on 11 February 2001, 20:33 GMT

TICT-Explorer v1.0 Thomas Nussbaumer has released the first version of TICT-Explorer. This is a nice little file explorer for the TI-89 and TI-92+ that supports all the features you'd expect, plus a whole bunch more. Plus, it requires no shell and will run on all AMS versions without any elite hacking required. And in case you don't speak English (well, I guess in that case you wouldn't be reading this), or if you just want to expose yourself to as much of your foreign language as possible before those AP & IB tests come rolling around in May, there's also versions in German and French. A Spanish version is coming soon.

Download:
For the TI-89: English, French, and German.
For the TI-92+: English, French, and German.

Update (Eric): Hot off the presses, you can now find the Spanish version for the TI-89 and the TI-92+.

To imitate Jason Ho a bit...

Gee! I wonder who wrote that excellent English documentation? =)

I'm not trying to criticize anything. Alien Invasion was a great game. But Jason Ho should stop putting his name in so many places, such as "GAME OVER by Jason Ho" He should really make some game called Game Over in order to make this true :)

Lol.
Actually, Game Over was another space shooter that i never did have time to finish, that screen is actually an advertising of my upcoming game Game Over.

It should be coming out in March!

But couldn't you just run this page through a translation program?

I don't know about anyone else, but I find the Var-Link menu to be just fine. I'll go ahead and try TICT-Explorer anyways, though. Since it's from TICT, it's gotta be good :)

I prefer Doors to be honest. The shell has a very clean look that I enjoy and it is also very functional. I love a lot of the work TICT has done, but I don't think this is that vastly better than what is already out there. The support for no-stub and ebooks and such is great, but the graphics disappoint me. I'd love to see the interface of Doors with the backend of this program.

Keep up the good work, Thomas!

It was never my intention to make a "vastly better" explorer, but I want a NOSTUB one. And as far as I know there is no other NOSTUB explorer arround (beside the VAR-Link of course ;-)

.... and yes, I will keep up with the "good" work. For example: you can expect a port of JM's "perfect grays" for HW2 calcs as add-on for the TIGCCLIB this week ;-)
(Sorry JM, but I couldn't resist to re-engineer them)

surely better than doors
cybernesto

I'm really grateful about this release. In my TI89, HW2, AMS205 , Doors stinks. I can't keep my calc working for a long time before it freezes. Even tough the graphical environment is nicer, in my configuration the menus extends far beyond the screen overlaping in a really ugly way.
A good one for TICT again!!!

I got this to crash too. I left it alone for two or three minutes, and when I looked at again, it was crashed. I had everything on archive, so no problem. I got to thank TI for the ability to reboot without losing archive.

I like the doors explorer too, but it crashes too often, It is nice to have something that doesn't crash every 3rd time you open it

I though, really love the minimalistic and information dense design.
The screen doesn't have very many pixels so it shouldn't be wasted on large fonts and icons.

Has anyone noticed that if you go to the file info page of the German version, there is a porter without a name or email. If you click on the link, you will get to an author info with quite a few programs.

Heh, nice feature! An invisible porter ;-) The script which process the upload form seems to have problems if there is one or more single blanks in the input form (or if you leave the porter selection on and don't enter a name).
