New Muchembled Releases
Posted by Eric on 29 January 2001, 00:05 GMT

Julien Muchembled has released new versions of his programs MaxMem v2.20 (for the TI-89 and TI-92+), TIB Receiver v1.10 (for the TI-89 and TI-92+), and HW2Patch v2.30 (for the TI-89 and TI-92+ again). These new versions are updated to work with AMS 2.05, and judging by the response on IRC and such, they look to be pretty nice.

On a side note, longtime ticalc.org users will note that file archive updates have recently been a bit lacking. If you've recently submitted a program and it hasn't appeared yet, no need to worry. Please keep the submissions coming; we might be a bit behind now but we're still alive and well, and plan to get back on our feet quickly. Thanks for the patience.

Didn't you resign from tinews.net or something due to lack of time?

I didn't resign, just slowed down, mainly due to lacking interest, and to focus more on guitar. I have spare time (like an hour a day) but when ticalc.org doesn't update, it's normally hard to update TI-News.

I went to dictionary.com and used the translator to find out what that said. I got many different translations but the one that made the most sense was:
C not too early! And then my adaptations?

I wanted to say that, since over one week, I sended some programs I updated to ticalc.org, and they never released them !

JM sended UniversalOS v1.20 two weeks ago, and they just release it today !!
But there is already the v1.21 at ti-fr.org !

My updated games are on my page :
http://www.flashzed.org/

On a french forum, we started to says that ticalc.org didn't like our french programs, because, since around 6 month, they quite never release our programs. But why ??

Speaking as a former archiver for this site, the job is incredibly difficult. Sorting through the 60 or so submissions per day, renaming things where appropriate, checking for current revisions in the archive, etc. becomes incredibly tedious. I lasted a little over a year before I just couldn't do any more. I still can't stomach doing archives; I'm just burnt out.

So, give those archivers a break. They work really hard :).

Yeah, plus they don't get paid so they're just doing it for fun. Believe it or now, maintaining archives at a TI calculator site might not be the #1 priority in people's lives. =-)

Then you should really consider improving the archiving process.
For example, the TIGCC Tools Suite appears in your archives in three different versions, all with a different name. Or, even better: someone renamed a program when I uploaded it, not removing the one with the old name.
If file archivers had a program that could do all this checking automatically, there would be little to no problems.

Hmm, if someone had the programming know-how, a good idea might be an archive that associates files with authors and has a moderation system and automatically adds files. It could be hosted on sourceforge too.

E jesmo mi Bosanci poliglote, svaki od nas zna barem tri jezika: bosanski, srpski i hrvatski...

Rough translation to English:

Everybody Bosnian man speaks at least three languages: Bosnian, Serbian and Croatian (probably because the difference between these three languages is not greater than 5-10%)...

So, Samir speaks 7 languages in above example, but the sentence "Ja govorim cetiri jezika" is the same in Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian, except Serbian (like Russian) uses Cyrilic instead of Latin font...

I don't think that it is a shame to speak 2 languages. As a matter of fact I speak 4 languages fluenty, and I am learning 2 more at the momment. I was just saying that we should post messages in only one language so that everyone can read the post. I don't like seeing a post in Spanish or Portugese or Brazilian because I don't know any of those languages. And I don't think that I am alone when I say that. I think that I will start posting all of my messages in Swahili or Czech. I would post in Japanese or Egyptian Hieroglyphics if I knew a way to display the characters. The Hieroglyphics would be a bit hard because I have no clue what they are, but I could do the Japanese.

Maintenant j'ai fatigué et faim et ai besoin d'une bière. (French)

Così perchè non tutti selezionamento giusto un linguaggio e parlarlo. (Italian)

Und eine andere Sache, kann nicht wir alle gerade entlang erhalten. (German)

Thing is, there is no one language that all humans understand. So you are using flawed logic. :P

We can't all just choose one language and use it--if anything should be default, it should be Swedish, because the server is in Sollentuna, Sweden. Men jag talar inte Svenska [But I don't speak Swedish] (thanks, Magnus, hehe).

Many people speak French much better than English. Or German, or Spanish. We get Portuguese letters to help@ticalc.org on occasion, too. I like to make my posts bi-lingual when I think it helps to speak in non-English languages (because I don't necessarily speak the other languages so well), but non-English messages are just as welcome here as English ones.

Oh... Hol loS jijatlh.

I wasn't talking using just one language in the whole world. Just here on the message board. Really, it's fine to post in other languages, but I think it would be a great service to others who might not speak the language if you were to use a translator to change it to English. Post both versions, English and non-English together. Now I realize that many translators suck ass badly, but some are good. take www.amikai.com for example. I tried it and it works moderately well. Thanks to the person who mentioned that site earlier. Anyway, post in any language you want. But be nice and post an English version as well if you can. Thank you.
