Posted by Phil on 9 September 2000, 23:27 GMT
TI-News and several other sites are reporting the tragic death of WORMHOLE, a programmer who was well known for his research into flash protection on the 68k calcs, passed away in a car crash on August 26th. You can see the "official" pronouncement on his web page. He will be missed.

This is very sad indeed. TCPA has been nice enough to prepare a page w/ information on the person's life.

This is truly a sad thing. I'm sincerely sorry for his friends and relatives, and everyone who knew WORMHOLE. His work was greatly appreciated by many members of the TI community. I hope you may find peace in heaven.
I thank every TI site who posted this message. This makes you realize what life *really* is about. My day is ruïned at this point. However, we should still go on and use WORMHOLE knowledge. He did a great deal of research - this may not be lost -. Any programmer who can learn this much about Flash technology is *real good*.
My prayers and apologies for all people who knew them, and of course for WORMHOLE himself, though he might not be able to hear them.
Fare well. ;-(.

I go to a private christian school and every day, it seems, they tell us, "don't take life for granted, you haven't been promised your next day." Or something similar. I don't think anybody can truly understand that until it something like this happens to you. Me and WORMHOLE where very good friends. He was one of my only true friend, it seems. Not some one who would talk to you to get something out of you... He was such a great man. I can't emphasize that enough. I have decided to restart an old project up in dedication to him. We where working on that several months ago until I heard that another french programmer was making it. To him, I say I'm sorry for starting it again but, this is something that I feel is right to do. I will put more information about this project and WORMHOLE on http://littlbit.soundex.org once I get the time. I feel this is the least I could do for him. I pray to no end that WORMHOLE would msg me over ICQ and tell me it's all a joke but, as each minute goes by, I more and more come to realize that most likely, this isn't a joke. Bye WORMHOLE, you will be missed greatly by me. I wish your family and friends peace in this tragic moment.

I know, I mean, if he died on the 26th, why are we finding out 2 Weeks Later! If he really died, would it take so long for the information to be relayed? Also, his friend's page isn't exactly a good funeral page. He doesn't list Wormhole's accomplishments, what he was like, or even his friend's real name! It's almost disrespectful the way the page is set up. A picture, a pseudonym, and some really vague commentary. "Died in a car crash", "You were a big man"? Nice way to remember your best friend. Even if the website's creator was mourning, then how come he managed to put up a web site in his grief. Wouldn't you want to remember your friend and make your best effort to preserving his memory?! If this is or isn't real, it's sad that there isn't anybody who cares enough anymore. If he is dead, farewell, and good fortune upon you as you transcend to the spiritual plane.

I had the luck to chat quite a lot with him, and I did some Beta test for some of his projects. He was someone really nice, with plenty of ideas.
I hope he'll be happy wherever he is...
Bye guy, we'll miss you.

Great talent. Programming skills I can only wish I had. Lost too soon. It's the world's loss.
I didn't know you personally, Wormhole, but you will be missed.

Never new him personaly, but judging from some of his achievments that I've seen or heard about, the TI community will be at a great loss without him.
On a not-so serious note:
(don't read it if you think it's out of place)
<JUST A THOUGHT>
Could this have been a conspiracy? When TI learned that someone was hacking their rom's and what not, maybe they decided to take out the culprit...
</JUST A THOUGHT>
Watch the flames roll in...
