May POTM Results, June POTM Voting, July Newsletter
Posted by Nick & Eric on 2 July 2000, 00:37 GMT
Ugg, I'm tired. One day late (because Andy's Internet connection puked on him), here's the POTM results for May. Congratulations to the winners! Secondly, you can now vote for your favorite programs in June's POTM. Update (Eric): As usual, the July Newsletter has also been posted to the Newsletter Archive. Update (Nick): July's issue of TIGCM is out, and it happens to contain an interview with some weird guy named Nick Disabato. Check it out!

I'm just wondering - why does it say always, "The POTM awards will start up again on ticalc.org" in the newsletter? I might be interpreting it wrong or something, but to me it seems like it stops every month and restarts the next month or something.

I'm glad to see any form of comments right now, it shows me what to do and what not to do for our upcoming issues. I've figured out a few ways to manage the controversy over editorials/columns, but what do YOU think i should do?

You should edit the articles instead of just pasting them together. Fix grammatical, punctuational, and html errors (test it in browsers at multiple resolutions to avoid what happened with this issue at 640x480). Tell the article writers to not use words that sound unprofessional (i.e. in "Where Are All The ASM Link Games" change "mess up" to "crash," "cause" to "because," and don't use "I" so many times. Consult the article writers if their articles do not contain accurate information, such as the optimization article, and do not publish them if they are not fixed. Only include actual items with sufficient lengths, not supposed 'columns' that contain only a few sentences. Do not contain a section such as "Entertainment" that is empty, and use correct punctuation with it (change "if you would like to help with this area, please E-Mail me. Thanks" to "If you would like to help with this area, please E-Mail me. Thanks."). You should do things like this in order to make the articles sound nicer, be more accurate, and look better. If you need help with this I'd be willing to help edit future versions of your magazine (" 'hey, no loss involved...' :) ").
