May POTM Results, June POTM Voting, July Newsletter
Posted by Nick & Eric on 2 July 2000, 00:37 GMT

Ugg, I'm tired. One day late (because Andy's Internet connection puked on him), here's the POTM results for May. Congratulations to the winners! Secondly, you can now vote for your favorite programs in June's POTM.

Update (Eric): As usual, the July Newsletter has also been posted to the Newsletter Archive.

Update (Nick): July's issue of TIGCM is out, and it happens to contain an interview with some weird guy named Nick Disabato. Check it out!

Hah, I actually didn't see it on there :) Oh well, one less vote shouldn't hurt it.

31 nice people...

To Matt: You should seriously consider optimising the Matt3D line drawing routine. There seems to be quite a "lot" of missed oppertunities to save clock cycles, and routine does seem to be quite (overly?) complex for the task at hand. I've decided to write my own routine using Bresenham's line drawing algorithm which is definatly shorter and probably faster. I'll send it you when I've finished if you want.

I wasn't counting the vote I made for myself :) But if you can come up with a faster line routine, I'm definetly interested. I know mine isn't too well-written, but it is the only ASM routine I am aware of.

Yeah, but it wastes batteries, isn't compatible with AMS 2.0x, and isn't completely accurate.

Hmm, I really should try this tanks game and the new doors. I guess I'm just gotten lazy at transferring and backing up and transferring and restarting and transferring. Doorsos .96 was very buggy, hopefully the newer one was better.

How did this news item get "Eric & Nick"? Doesn't 1 person post a news item?

Huh, any civilized email client uses semicolons, not commas, to separate multiple recipients.

Well, it's really a question of what the user likes better. I prefer using semi-colons, others prefer commas. Just wondering, does it make a difference? Maybe some e-mail clients don't support the other way or something?

um
in netscape, when a semi-colon is used, it sends to these:

"nickd"@ticalc.org;
eric@ticalc.org

when a comma is used, it does it right

nickd@ticalc.org
eric@ticalc.org

Oh... I use Outlook Express more than Netscape Messenger, and Outlook seems to handle them fine, so I've never encountered that problem before.

Oops... I meant Internet Explorer, not Outlook Express; Netscape Navigator, not Netscape Messenger.
