yeah you got 1st comment... anyway is geometers sketchpad any good? (I probably don't need it, as I can access Cabri II from school) lucky the other ones are free...

Geometer's Sketchpad is actually a very nice program (compared to cabrii anyhow). Very easy to use and powerful.

Even if you aren't in Geometry (I'm not), this just offers a convenience. A lot of time saved and a lot of stupid mistakes avoided.

Well, when I took Geometry, we used The Geometer's Sketchpad on the computer, so had the calc version been available at the time, it would have actually helped me out quite a bit.

in short, you have to pay for it.

Generally speaking when you buy a Flash App you may between $7(Periodic Table) and $50(Electric Engineering Pro). However you can only use these flash apps on your calaculator because they are digitally signed by TI or whoever made the flash app. Howvere with a site license you can distribute flash apps to other calculators, but it costs $300. Site liscences are mainly for schools.

Are you just refering to APPS that cost money? Because ones that are free you can give to anyone from calc-to-calc. But, I think you are talking of ones the cost money, as that is the only thing that really makes sense!

Actually that can be done with any app, although it is illegal. All that you need to do is right click on the executable file, and choose extract to..., then you just send the app. It doesn't validate it this way.

I suppose I will get flamed for being a "warez kiddie" or "w4nn4b3 h4x0r", but, I'd prefer not to turn over any more of my money to TI, to get apps that should be distributed for free. Does anyone know of a site that has any apps for download? Thanks.

If you're that concerned about stealing flash apps and you are an 83+ user, then do these steps, but DO NOT do this from your house!!! You will get BADLY F|_|cked over if oyu get caught!
Go to the 83 BASIC Misc Prog section and download the credit card generator program. It usually works, just use mastercard or something. Make up some bullsh|t names and expiration dates, then download it to a diskette. Bring it home and you should be set, unless the prog must conform to your ID or something.
You may be able to pull this off at school or your local library.

I couldn't buy EEpro .... In the TI store , Uruguay is not listed , that sucks , I wrote several emails to TI but they just say they will add my country SoonŽ . Anyway , many Basic programs out there are very good , but are not the same as the EEpro...-Just keep waiting .-

Let's pray that Netscape 6 doesn't crash as I type this. . . and I wish that I could get these forms to use a larger font that's READABLE, and some horizontal scrollbars, too. . .

anyway, I think that TI should release that LONG overdue 89/92+ SDK that they promised that we would have last December already, rather than crap on us while they make cash off more apps. . . and every week it seems more and more like they just release a bare-bones calc and expect you to pay extra for apps that add functionality that should be included in the calc in the first place (TI-73 matrices, TI-83+ inequality graphing).

At least HP gives a damn about their customers. . .

TI has an unfair monopoly over both teachers and students in both junior high and high schools in the US; their calculators have been THE ONLY standard to EVER be used in the classroom.

I must agree with you there! Even my Pre-Calc book utilizes (sp?) the TI calcs. Even the Trig, Alg2, Geometry, and Alg1 books incorporate the TI calcs into lesson! In fact, the Geometry and Trig books have small programs in the lessons to make redundant things quicker (Quadratic formula, for example).

You know, I was waiting for the Flash SDK also. Where the He|| is it? This is all a marketing ploy by TI so they can make money off us poor saps who have good ideas for FlashApps, but no SDK. I say we all send E-Mails in at the same time asking about the SDK. That'll fix 'em!

I'm with you, Scott. With no ballpark target release date on TI's website and virtually no info about the 89/92+ SDK, I too am beginning to wonder if will even exist.

If TI is just too busy creating little apps that few people really care about or will use, they could at least subcontract the SDK out to some programmers who care about its completion. I'm anxious to get cracking on 89 asm (I'm currently asm illiterate), and I'd like to learn it RIGHT, from scratch, without tons of trial and error and calculator crashing. What few 89 asm tutorials I've seen don't really explain it fully, from the beginning, in terms understandable to people who haven't delved into asm.

Most ASM tutorials are written for people who are fairly good in C and C++. First of all, you need a compiler (you can get Borland Turbo C 2.01 off their website for free, or I can get it to you if you E-Mail me). Next, you need to know how to program in C. For any questions on that, I can provide some answers. I will soon be coming out with a tutorial that not only will explain ASM on the 89, but also the C language.

man, if you want to learn asm with no trials and errors, you're better off just sticking to BASIC...

...I'm not saying that I don't expect trial and error, because certainly there is plenty of it when programming anything in any language. I'm just saying that asm programming doesn't have to be some kind of secret society where the prerequisite to getting information is to already understand the TI hardware and OS inside and out. My point was that any asm info on the 89 I've seen comes with the assumption that you know these things...my quest is to get info that starts at the beginning.
Contrary to what many experienced asm programmers think, we BASIC programmers are actually smarter than chimps, with the capacity to learn something new when provided with information that isn't haphazard. I just didn't want to read a three paragraph tutorial, type in the provided code, crash my calculator and wonder what the heck just happened. Hence, I wait for the fabled SDK.
