Nick Disabato Celebrates Meaningless Passage Of Time With Equally Meaningless "Birthday Party"
Posted by Nick on 1 February 2000, 02:52 GMT

BlueCalx's Party(Reuters) CHICAGO, IL - To celebrate the otherwise meaningless revolution of the Earth about a mid-sized star, Nick Disabato held a "birthday party" for little to no reason this weekend.

For some outlandish reason, Nick felt a strange compelling to throw a party for a meaningless passage of time to occur on what people on Earth consider to be "February 1, 2000." When questioned about the matter, Nick replied, "It's my birthday. People throw parties on their birthday. It's called a birthday party."
Wow.
It's clearly apparent that Nick needs some sort of professional help.

When questioned about Nick's bout with insanity, theoretical physicist Alfred E. Neumann of the University of Chicago stated that "since all bodies travel at different speeds, whether it be the Earth or Alpha Centauri, time passes differently for each. As a result, it's logical to assume that time is merely an illusion to the viewer and that Nick Disabato must be committed to an insane asylum at once."

Ed Sim, a real-life acquaintance of Nick, agrees: "Nick is just [mess]ed up. I wouldn't trust him with anything, much less whether or not he feels he has the knowledge to determine whether or not his eighteenth 'birthday' has passed."

An average student at Maine South, Kate Ferraro, said, "It's Joey's birthday?! I HAVE TO GET HIM BALLOONS!*#&!(*#&!@)#" with the punctuation symbols and everything.
Doctors are investigating Park Ridge's water supply for signs of contamination.

Reuters? Like they'd card.

It is true that the senses of smell and taste are linked.

Yes! The two sense are! Want a long explination?!?! Too bad, you get one now!

In reality, you only have the five different taste buds on your tongue (sweet, sour, bitter, salt, and...man! Can't remember!). Anyways, for some reason (don't ask...no one knows), your tongue can't mix the tastes it receives to make a somewhat bitter and somewhat sweet taste. So, how does it get done? Simple! Your smell-glands (or whatever they are called!) are much more capable of things than your tongue is. So, whenever your taste buds are triggered, your smell glands are, too! So, your nose gets to smelling your food. So, why does it seem like it is comming from your tongue? Simple! Well, your nose sends its received data to the brain, then the brain converts the data to something that the tongue can read. Then the new data is sent and the tongue gets it, hence, you taste it! So, you ask, if your tongue can get the converted nose data, why can't it make that data itself? Simple! Think of it this way: a program is made to output two things:

1) Numbers
2) UPPER case letters

However, it can only MAKE:

1) Numbers

...so, it can output two things, but make one thing. Make sense?

Well, thats how it works!

True...but your brain knows (reads) those pulses to mean something...so, I was just trying to make things simple.

What if you're brain-damaged, or raised in a community which did not use the standard visual-symbol system that the rest of the world uses (i.e. they communicated by some other means)?

Actually, you can output UPPER- and lower- case letters in a program (on calcs above the 83+).
And on the 92+/89, you can work with the undefined variables and functions.

Well, with assembly, you can control a full 255 character set on any calculator above the TI-82. In TI-BASIC, maybe not, but -- yeah, you get the point.

Since this is the only topic I have understood in about the last 20 comments... I think I'll respond. Actually, there is a way to output some, but not all, lowercase letters in Basic on an 83(+). Just use commands from the catalog (cuz they're in alphabetical order... easy to find), and override things with output.

Ex.

ClrHome
Output(1,1,"H")
Output(1,2,"imag(")
Output(1,3," "

Notice how I overwrited the mag( in imag(. Instead of:

Himag(

I now have:

Hi

This won't work for letters like o, q, etc... unless you can find a command that has multiple letters you want... one of them being the hard-to-get letter.

Hint: Just use asm... you could have learned how to do this in z80 by the time you're finished reading this message.

Happy B-Day Nick!

TimeCr0ss hereby states that he in no way what-so-ever endorses, approves of, acknowledges, or even knows of the acts of senseless, bloody, and "fun" crimes that Nick has commited.

(AP) MIAMI, FL - Today, Kodi Mosley, someone not important at all, stated that Nick Disabato has commited acts of senseless violence for no other reason then to construct senseless acts of violence. Cheif Ray Kremer of the Miami Police Dept. stated in response to this outragous waste of his time "I don't know anything about this... ...excuse me while I spend the rest of my life updating the Msg. Boards at ti.com."

Time is an illusion. Just like religion. You can't prove either of which. Sure, you can point to a watch or to the Naval Observatory, and say "Look, time!", but, that's just a time counting device. Actually, religion came from the need to count time. Odd. You can't bring me a slice of time on a plate, and say "here's your time, do you want anything else?". Man needed something to tell him of when to plant crops, so he came up with this horribly ridiculous idea of "time". This new invention told him when to plant crops, yet, he couldn't prove it exists. Just like religion.

Religion--i.e. the belief in God--is not an illusion. The people I see going to church on Sunday *are actually going to church*. Their belief in God is not illusory.

"God" is not the same as "religion".

Ugly Rumours
Ciaran McCreesh  Account Info
(Web Page)

Today people have been hearing unconfirmed rumours that a female has in fact been talking to Nick. I would like to inform you that these ridiculous rumours are completely untrue.

Futhermore, I would like to ensure, on behalf of the staff of twerp Productions (all 2.5 of us), that none of us are in any way associated with the calculator that was pretending to be the aforementioned female that the prestated moron was associating with.

Please keep your daughters away from this public nuisance - he is a danger to the entire human race (of which I do not have the pleasure of being a member). He has been seen in a dangerously close relationship with a Casio calculator. In fact, our leading scientists here at twerp Productions are investigating the possibility that the female Nick wasn't having a conversation with was in fact made by Casio (both females and Casios are illogical, full of complaints and make a fuss about trivial things).

Interseting fact: at the school I go to more females have ti calculators than males. More females can program them. This is scary.

Happy (belated) Birthday Nick!

Well, the rumors are true, I have been talking to Nick. If it causes that much chaos in the ticalc.org community, it means that you guys have to get out there in the world, and use your calc knowledge to grasp the female population. If you are in calc class, and there is a attractive female next to you, don't be afraid to whip up a little something on your 86 that does easy integrals. Or something like that. (That is, if she doesn't know how to program.) Hold doors. Don't obnoxiously talk and chew gum. With these tips, you all can go a long way, if you know what I mean...

It depends on four factors:

1) gender of stalker must be female
2) degree of stalking must be kept to minimum
3) stalker must have genuine interest or motivation to stalk stalkee
4) stalker must not stalk said stalkee out of spite or any other form of hatred.

Define "grasp" in "grasp the female population".

If you're using it as a synonym for "woo", "captivate", "infatuate with", "allure", "bewitch", "charm", "wile", "enamorate", or "fascinate", then I don't think it works.

I tried it out. It'd look something like this:

PROBLEM: Does the act of creating interesting conglomerations of hexadecimal numbers on portable computing deices utilizing Z80 derivatives (viz. graphing calculators manufactured by Texas Instruments U.S.A.) draw the opposite gender to closer relationships with the programmer?

HYPOTHESIS: (Equally verbose negative response that I'm too lazy to write up right now.)

MATERIALS: Texas Instruments "TI"- series graphing calculator
Test sample of species Homo sapiens, female gender (20 or more)
Recording device

PROCEDURE:
1. Analyze current class situation.
2. Create program to aid in or automate difficult task presented in class.
3. Locate suitable test subject from supplied test sample.
4. Demonstrate program to test subject, and record response.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until test sample is exhausted.

DATA ANALYSIS:
(A page or two about the reactions of all the test subjects, all seeming to restate the basic "completely repulsed" theme, with the exception of #17, which pointed out an obscure error that could result from a bug and was repulsed because of that.)

CONCLUSION:
(A few pages stating: "It doesn't work.")

Hmm, I know a guy that can only wtite two programs. The first is for the ti80 (there are quite a few at our school) that fills up all the memory on the calculator so that you can't even type anything on the home screen. The second is a raw machine code program that I wrote (in assembly) originally - it simply adds one to every sum carried out. It kinda freaks people out - 2 + 2 = 5...

I don't really program for the ti80 (smirk, there's more memory in a Mac than that piece of useless plastic). I've written an equation solver (that scared people) and an RPG. That's why I dislike BAS(M)IC so much.

Please forgive this meaningless post, I've just had straight ones in all my exams and am currently singing this in using voice recognition...
