h4X0r Announces Gooey 89 and GIDE
Posted by Nick on 29 December 1999, 01:59 GMT
h4X0r, in a newly revamped home page, has announced the pending release of Gooey 89 and GIDE. I'll let quotes from the page speak for themselves: "I have created the first hacked freeware Flash Application, Gooey 89, as well as GIDE, also known as Gooey Integrated Development Envirnoment. "The two programs work together to make a lethal programming nightmare for TI's SDK, which costs $300 USD! My two programs make TI-89 assembly programming easy! It offers everything [that] DoorsOS offers without the mess of libraries as all the usefull routines are built in! I have included all the possible documentation humanly possible, to allow a quick uptime for new and seasoned programmers. Not only that but if you ever have questions, I have setup a message board to ask questions and get answers! No longer will you have [to] plead with TI's incompetence." A screenshot is available to the right; just click on the thumbnail. Versions of Gooey 89 and GIDE should (hopefully) be released soon. Update (Nick): h4X0r has released a second screenshot of GIDE. Update (Nick): h4X0r has updated his page again. Those of you who bothered to read this news item for this long, get ready for a treat. h4X0r has added animated screenshots to his Gooey 89 page. Enjoy! h4X0r says Gooey 89 and GIDE will be released shortly after Y2K. He's working on it as fast as he can, so sit tight. More to come from us soon.

I don't agree!

I don't quite agree with this vision of an operating system or something like that. I think that the TI-community had better program a new OS, with of course a visual computer SDK. But something like HP's OS, combined with TI's CAS and with a visual SDK would make things much better. This project, which I have already started, is called PowerTools. In fact, I find it silly to have TI fighting to limit programmers, and us programmers and users fighting to avoid those limitations. Moreover, TI's OS is really horrible (though the CAS and the calculator are fantastic). That's why I plan :
A) A new ROM, deleting unuseful parts of the TI-OS, and letting us more than 1 Mb of free memory.
B) A new OS, a bit like HP's featuring : 4-level grayscale, RPN and algebraic logic, HP-like menus, more key combinations (such as 2nd+Shift+Key), a faster and cleaner memory organization with subdirectories, multi-taskings, plug-ins, and more and more...
C) A FREE Visual Basic-like SDK, with events&co (so that it's very easy to program).
D) Anything, open to your suggestions (not really like TI with their 8kb-limit...).
I may release a beta SDK in 1-2 months, and a beta version in 2-3 months, I think (but it's quite approximative).

TCPA and the hoax

Has anyone noticed that all the nay sayers are from TCPA. Could it be that they had something similar in mind. But H4xor bet them to the punch? Though I have no way to prove it. Then again they only have a image and I've looked over it. Pretty weak if you ask me. So would the people from TCPA care to explain why all the negtive comments come from you?
Awaiting a response

Well, seeing as Nick suspended discussion of this on the main message board because it was making him look bad - I feel there's some important points about this being a "hoax".
1. h4x0r has been on the ticalc.org message boards for a while, definitely at least 3 months. a long time to set up a hoax.
2. nick edited the IRC log that he posted on the main page. tigalaxy.com has the real log, which shows nick manipulating h4x0r:
<BlueCalx> I can also post a news item on ticalc.org outlining in detail this IRC log and what you did on a89
<BlueCalx> since neither of us want that to happen, I'd suggest you stop being so insolent
since when does a ticalc.org coordinator own all ti programmers?
3. whomever "commented" the screen shot obviously does not know that someone can change the menus in any programming environment, be it VB, C, or other semi-visual languages.
4. why is it the SAME people criticizing h4x0r? TCPA people and Nick? they are too jealous to accept that someone may be stealing their fire.
after this incident i now see why bryan rabeler criticizes this site so much. read this message fast because it will soon be deleted by nick.
