Matt Teiken Releases The Next Dimension v1.5
Posted by Nick on 12 December 1999, 20:22 GMT
Matt Teiken has released The Next Dimension v1.5. This TI-89 game is an interesting side-scroller featuring grayscale, a great plot, and oxygen tanks you have to pick up to stay alive. It's very challenging! Also note that TND v1.5 almost certainly won't work on AMS v2.03. The game itself is about 32KB and it also features grayscale.

If anyone can make this game work with AMS 2.03 by 12:00 PM tomorrow afternoon (Monday, December 13) I will personally eat several small rodents. That is all.

I was wondering with all this v2.03 stuff going on, is anybody attempting to make grayscale work on HW v2.00. IMO that should be the first step instead of games on v2.03, there aren't even calcs in the US with v2.03 in them yet. Once grayscale is implemented, then all of the really cool games (really large ones) like The Next Dimension can be ported to v2.03:P hehe, now I'm basically saying that this TI-89 game could be ported to the TI-89?!?!?! Kinda messed
Just wondering if there is any developments on grayscale on HW 2.00 calcs

half of what you said I do not understand, but I'll try to answer anyways :P
From what I've read on these boards, people are trying to get grayscale on the hw2 calcs.
People who've installed 2.03 on their calcs have it, so yes, 2.03 IS on many US calculators, just not being sold WITH them.
Large games like TND cannot be ported to 2.03, at least without source code editing as I've read on these boards, due to the 8k limit imposed by the new rom. They have to be made to work with the patch I believe.
TND is already on the ti89, so it doesn't have to be ported, unless you mean port it to the 2.03 rom :P

I have the previous version of TND, and I love it.
I am just wondering what this new version does that the last one does not...
Good work Matt.

Does anyone have the problem I have w/ TND, in which after running TND the cursor on the HOME screen slows down excessivly--making it hard to type in problems fast when I'm taking a math test?
