Nspire Models Opened to Third-Party Development
Posted by Astrid on 27 February 2010, 10:09 GMT
We here at ticalc.org are extremely pleased to announce the
inauguration of the TI-Nspire Assembly
Files category. The first file in this category
is Ndless,
a utility
by Geoffrey
Anneheim (geogeo)
and Olivier
Armand (ExtendeD).
Several years in the making, Ndless will open your TI-Nspire™ or
TI-Nspire CAS™ calculator up to third-party development. The
Ndless team has included a sample program that you can use as a
template for developing your own programs. Details on exactly how to
set up a development environment are presently in flux, but ExtendeD
assures me that this is the next phase of their work.
The Ndless installer only supports Windows. If you don't have a
Windows computer handy, or just want to perform the installation
on-the-go, Brandon Wilson has released a utility
called Nspire8x
that is able to install the Ndless loader. Nspire8x also allows a
TI-84 Plus/Silver Edition to communicate directly with a Nspire calculator and transfer files.

I just saw this and was going to install it dispite the fact that it would revert me to version 1.1. But then I had to update my computer link software and saw that TI had OS 2.0 out and I sadly gave in to it's power. Now if only this gets working with OS 2.0 will I update. I'm not so sure on the new hardware though. I will need a hands on first.

TI-Bank has received today a lawyer letter, asking in the name of TI for the removal of all TI-Nspire OS 1.1 copies on the server.
The letter is mentionning neither other versions of the OS, neither z80/68k OSes.
So it's definately an attack against Ndless.
(TI doesn't learn from its mistakes...)
Starting from today, Ndless 1.0 won't be able to download the OS 1.1 from TI-Bank any more.
So Ndless needs to be updated.

I tried the Gameboy Emulator and it worked great... When I got tired of the emulator I proceeded to uninstall the Ndless program and then update again my TI-Nspire CAS OS 1.1 to the 2.0 OS... I got surprised when a prompt menu said that now I could not update my OS... Have anyone the same problem? I've tried everythig and no answer... :/
