What is Testgaurd anyway?...wait lemme think. It allows the teacher to disable certain programs when you take a test, right?

It's a lot of things.

It's an application TI wrote which would send a program to another calculator through the link port and execute it remotely, where it would delete all of your programs and applications.

Then they released Testguard2, which does the same, except that you can choose to temporarily disable programs and certain (or all) applications (only when the receiving calculator is OS 2.40+). They can do this by building in support for it in the OS.

The OS 2.40+ calculator will listen to silent link packets to disable specific or all applications and programs. It also has a related feature called Press-to-Test, where you hold LEFT+RIGHT while turning the calculator on (OS 2.40+), where it presents a menu where you can do the same.

In OS 2.41+, they also have this "delete all" option by holding 5+8 and/or 5+2 and turning it on. Those will preserve certain named Flash applications (ones you might find useful on a test, like CtlgHelp). And one of them also preserves Swedish and Finnish language localization apps, and has "FOR SINGAPORE" tacked onto the reset text. Why they do this is a good question.

Brandon You know they're doing this just to mess with us the only feature i know i would like is the clock thing other than that there is no good reason to upgrade and as someone said Clock Hook 2 already has that feature. Though I would try it out if my 84 hadn't been stolen.

Another thing I jsut thought of is why haven't they added any of these features to ti-os 1.19 I mean it would make sense to update their 83+ os because they sell many more 83+BE's than 84+BE's.

I don't know which they sell more of, but yes, it'd make sense to put it in the 83+/SE OS. Perhaps it's incentive for schools or teachers to use 84+/SEs exclusively.

Does the Push to Test still delete the groups? My friend accidentally enabled push to test once, and deleted all my groups.
