I hope they will not the discontinue the 68k line anytime soon. They appeal more to me as a dev platform to be honest :)

Agreed, I might as well program a psp, ds, or pc if I wanted impressive graphics. This thing just isn't quite a "calculator" anymore.

The mouse-like input method doesn't look very effective for navigating menus and dialogs, either. Using the arrow keys to change the selection directly like on the TI-89 is probably quicker most of the time.

I guess it'll be more like the V200 then.

Well, the hardware specs are quite an improvement over the 89 Titanium. . . 16MB RAM, 20MB archive (are they kidding? In my opinion, there should be at least several times more archive than RAM. . .), 320x240 greyscale screen, and ~100 MHz processor. . . not bad. Although, the whole device looks rather bulky, and has those funny "wings" on either side of the LCD. Still, just imagine the games that could be created for this. . .

I think they would have been better to release a 84X / 89X add a small memory card read/write to it...something like miniSD, microSD, or even regular SD

I have no reason to buy that one but if I could get one like I have but with a memory card read/write I would sell mine in a flash...no punn intended...

Yeah with a calculator this spiffed out, the least they could do is add memory card or USB host support.

If it's not backwards compatible with the 83+ or 89T series, it's going to take a long while for it to catch on. Is the processor architecture similar in any way to the Z80's or 68k's?

with all those features, it ought to be backward compatible to both Z80 and 68K. They have enough power process stuff.

With all that (100+MHZ CPU, 16MB RAM, etc), it shouldn't be hard to make an emulator that runs at the full speed of an 89+, 84+, etc. Like a port of Emu8X to the Nspire or something.

How are games going to work with the D-pad in the center of the calc? Using my left finger to do rapid fire on the old calcs was bad enough.

you don't have to use the mouse pad. it could use 2 keys to the side

Am I the only one who would rather have much more RAM than archive? I want to do dynamic translation & run Linux, both of which would fit nicely (together, even) in a mere 2MB/4MB flash (Linux will run off a 1.44MB floppy disk) but would benefit greatly from having more than 256KB RAM (err...128KB after Tetris & several random functions & text files are lying around). 16MB would be enough, but I am probably going to stick with my TI-92+ & TI-89 Titanium for the time being.

honestly, I don't really like the mouse thing. It is located at the middle of the calculator and it's kind of hard to operate it with my thumb.

Yeah, I'd have to agree, that seems to be a flaw. . . it forces you to use your pointer finger all the time, which can be rather tiring.

Agreed. Simulated mice just don't work that well for everyone, especially on something small like a calculator.

Maybe is not mandatory to use it, I guess they will add some keyboard shortcut to any menu
