TI-84 Plus OS v2.41 Released
Posted by Michael on 7 May 2006, 04:47 GMT

TI has released version 2.41 of the TI-84 Plus operating system. As usual, there is a vague comment that tells us nothing about what changes are new to this version. It appears that the website has not been fully updated yet, as there are references to both 2.40 and 2.41 on the download page. If you are aware of any changes in this version, please post in the comments.

Why does TI keep updating the TI-84 plus, it would make more sense if they updated the ti-89t. Especially because there is a new one out, it would make sense to give it a new OS.

How many people get 89Ti's? And then how many get 84+SE's?

It's all part of their marketing plan.

You got beef with 89 Ti's? I got one, and so do a lot of people I know.

Not at all, I was just pointing out how more people have 84's. I wish I had an 89 though.

For standardized tests, or for everything? Because a Voyage is much easier to program....And that's all that matters.

Maybe they keep finding little insidious bugs in the code for the 84+ and no the 89Ti.

So 2.41 has the teacher-lock then?

I really don't see the point in updating my OS with every little change TI makes. Afterall, there are few differences between v2.30 and 2.40, and fewer that I actually want. What TI needs to do is create an alternative OS that is more gamer friendly, with math as it's second priority :D

Wow... I don't know why TI keeps on updating the TI-84 Plus OS (I have 4 TI calcs., though); however, I agree with you guys and gals: They (TI) should tell what minor or major changes has been made between one OS and another. Yeah... why doesn't TI update the TI-89Ti OS? It's been a long time (Since Dec. 19, 2005, or around there) since the 89Ti's OS has been upgraded to 3.10 (from 3.01). As usual, for the 89Ti, they didn't comment on what changes has been made between AMS 3.01 and AMS 3.10.

They way I picture (or see) it:
TI-84 Plus SE: 2.30----->2.40 --> 2.41
TI-89 Titanium: 3.00 --> 3.01----->3.10

No offense, but what is TI up to? Updating OS without telling us what is going on? :| I find this weird, mind you.

Anyway... on the positive side, they updated the OS (minor, speaking), and it's keeping up-to-date.

If the 89Ti's HW version 4's processor speed is about 16 MHz, isn't the TI-84+SE's processor speed about
12 MHz? I'll have to look it up.

Well... I apologize for the long post, but I just want to put up some comments about both sides. Thanks anyway! :)

Even if TI didn't tell us what changed in AMS 3.10, we know it pretty well, see the thread "State of my programs for AMS 3.10" in "Custom Beta Tests" at the TICT/TIGCC message board.

I have a TI-89T with HW4 and I did cpuspeed on it; it runs 13.28 Mhz. bummer

So then it's not much of a huge CPU difference between the HW3 and HW4, whatsover, right?

HW3: 12.00 MHz (I think); and, as you specified for the HW4 CPU speed, you said 13.28 MHz. Am I correct? Wait.. thought it was going to be 16 MHz (Assume everything's at its default state)? Hmmm... oh well.

Hmmm... I wonder when (maybe... just maybe) TI would update the new OS other than 3.10 and its previous OS...

I wonder if cpuspeed is broken, ExtendeD's benchmark program is broken, both are or some other strange thing is happening...

I think the only thing they change from one os version to the next is the version number on the about screen.

I have a TI-84+ running OS 2.40
Pretty much the only upgrade to this one (I believe) was support for some new apps... such as NavNet, etc.
I really do wish TI would tell us exactly what they are asking us to put on our calcs tho...
Anyone else notice anything new about the OS's?

Just for the record, I'm'a gonna wait a while before trying out 2.41... Teacher lockdown...bleargh...

I'm just glad im the only person in this school besides the calculus teacher who *really* knows how to use a TI!

TI-84 Plus OS v2.40 has teacher lock according to Michael's news posting of its release in January, so I'm assuming that v2.41 will have teacher lock also.

Indeed, I checked with TILem and TI has not removed their merciless lockage of progs, apps, etc.

Yes, but TI's market with graphing calc's is education.
It must at least seem to be that they are used as calculators instead of game boys.

I found a difference. Since I upgraded, I can't send apps. Right after I accidentally cleared my archive too! AARRGGHH!

Ok. So if you're unable to send Apps... let's assume that you don't have any non-flash stuff on your calculator. So then, are you able to retrieve your non-flash stuff back on your calculator, such as stored units, programs/functions, and stuff like that? I don't understand why you can't send or get your Flash Apps back in your calculator. That's not fair. :| TI should have thought about this before upgrading to a new OS; but, they didn't because they didn't comment on the changes to the new OS (like I previously posted). *sigh*

I'm just wondering... are you able to "downgrade" your OS back to where you really enjoying doing stuff before upgrading?

I don't know if it would be in the same directory on your computer, but if you installed the CD that came with the 84+, just go here: C:\Program Files\TI Education\TI Connect
