March/April 2005 Newsletter
Posted by Michael on 1 May 2005, 05:05 GMT

Celebrate May Day with the ticalc.org newsletter! Check your inbox or read the March/April 2005 issue in our newsletter section. You are subscribed, aren't you?

Note that unlike the last issue there's no "esteemed newsletter editor" line in this news article - he was a few hours late in getting this issue out. Tsk tsk.

cool beans. It mentions one of my favorite peevs. The 89 at will calculate the 256! in under a second. But displaying the result takes much longer, I've written a routine that can do the displaying 20x faster. (above link)

Yeah, most of the things in that list applied to me, especially the one about putting comments at the side of papers...

"new archives will be uploaded to ticalc.org"

^^ What does that mean? Are we talking new files or what? Secondly, I'm a little dissapointed in the edit to the main question that many people wanted the real answer to in the interview...oh well.

I think he just means files will be processed.

"I would like to express my desire for someone who has excellent programming skills to make "Kommander Keen" for any TI calculator."

I totally agree with Morgan. Anyone, please!

Someone really does need to make a good commander keen game. That was a real classic. Also, I've noticed a lack of good ASM games for the 89 since corridor 99 came out (which still is a great game, it just takes up so much space). A couple of months ago, there would be new assembly games every day. What happened?

Well, school is almost out, so expect more and more good projects being released before august!
I have gotten very little done on any of my current projects because of school.

Check out Astrosmash (currently in the "Upload File" queue). It is an addictively fun game originally made for the Mattel Intellivision in 1981. It is a cross between Asteroids and Space Invaders.

You should ask ticalc to feature it. It's clearly good enough, and featuring would "enforce" uploading.

Rip the graphics and slap them into T3's Sonic MisAdventures... add the weapons and you're good to go...

In my home town that is the day that all the hippies that go to The Evergreen State College come out and protest the meaning of life or whatever it is they need to this year. After a couple hundred of them get thrown in jail, they seem to go home. Either that or the pepper spray gets to bad to handle!

I think it is the best holiday ever! :-)

Evergreen, what a joke. :-)
If I ever want to scare someone, I'll just tell them that I am attending/am planning to attend Evergreen, with a straight face. Gets 'em everytime. Of course, you need to make up some major as well.
Really though, May Day is a ancient holiday, I'm suprised you haven't heard of it yet.
