TI Releases AMS 3.01
Posted by Michael on 16 February 2005, 13:46 GMT

TI has released AMS 3.01. You can find versions for the 89 Titanium and the Voyage 200. Version 3.01 "optimizes battery performance for use with the TI-89 Titanium Presentation Link Adapter." There is no other information available.

Kevin Kofler has updated his HW3Patch utility for compatibility with this new release.

Uhh...

Why is everybody talking about an OS reflashing the calculator as if it's news?

Well, for those with only a titanium from the 68k line of calcs, it's their first time through this procedure. It seems only fair to warn users to backup their data, as many of them might be migrating from the 83+/SE/84+/84+SE, where upgrading usually does not clear archive.

The upgrade from 2.07 to 2.08 to 2.09 did not erase Archive on my v200. This is a big deal, seeing as all the projects I am working on.
Thanks for the warning, Andy, as I had totally missed that and would have completely erased all of my work.

Hey come on, we're pretty much all students here and we know how things pop up here and there. Michael's been doin an awesome job since he got here and we're lucky to have him. Heck he knew about the 3 new calculators last year before any of ya :-p

It's all good, we still got the info.

You were the first one with the download link, but Ti-Gen had a newsitem about AMS 3.01 (posted by me) on Monday. :p

But I did credit you for the download link, because it's thanks to your newsitem (and to the tinews.net Conglomerate) that I learned about that.

Oh, and you're still missing the V200 part.

No. Until there is something I care about in an update, I am not going to do it. Resetting my entire memory sucks, as well as adding more compatibility issues.

Actually, you probably wouldn't have to resend anything archived, with the exception of any apps you may want to keep. As for benefits, the 2nd+left+right+on reset does seem to be almost an instant process now.

Are there any other good reasons to upgrade besides optimized battery performance for use with the presentation link adapter? Anybody get weird crashes while running programs?

Apparently, if you try to download the V200 version, even though it says "3.01" everywhere, you'll still get AMS 2.09. I wonder when they'll fix that...

The correct download link is:
http:// education.ti.com/ educationportal/ appsdelivery/ download/ download.jsp? cid=us& countryid=US& isocode=EN& contentpaneid=5& applicationid=276& softwareid=6021
(without the spaces) or, if you prefer:
http://tinyurl.com/3lhyj

(Thanks to Flanker for locating it.)
