Bomber Dude Released for 68k Calcs
Posted by Michael on 28 November 2004, 15:14 GMT

[Bomber Dude v0.95]Jean-François Geyelin has released his latest masterpiece: Bomber Dude for the 89, 89 Titanium, 92+, and Voyage 200. The goal is to drop bombs and destroy enemies, but there are a myriad of options and bonuses available. For example, if you walk over a skull, there are a variety of fun random illness such as "lead foot" and hyperactivity that can develop. Each has a unique effect on your moving or bomb dropping capabilities. If that wasn't fun enough, there's a multiplayer mode as well.

This game's really fun. I'd recommend everyone to try it out. Definitely try the teleportation map!

Wow this definitely beats Bomberkids on the 83+! Too bad I don't have one of those, I would definitely make this one of my favorites! And best of all, it's made by a french! They're actually making some of the best games over there: TIny worms, starcraft... hooray for France!

If you choose to do so... get the regular 89. The TI-89 Titanium may have a USB port and an a$$load of memory, but those are the only plusses. The regular 89 runs everything and costs less...

Oops... yeah, $160! would be insane, but I meant $160. Oops.

But really... that's a huge price for a TI-89Ti. Where did you see one that cost that much?

Every store herethat carries it has it for that much. I have never bought anything off line, because I do not have a creditcard. Though I am in the process of getting a paypal account to go dirtctly from my checking.

i actually think getting an 89titanium is better because most people will be getting it and more games will be converted and made for the 89t. and it looks cooler.

I LOVE its OS. At the beginning, it seems a bit complicated compared to a Z80, but its math and programming capabilities are wonderful.

It doesn't seem confusing or jumbled to me. It's extremely simple. It just looks a bit confusing at first, but so does a scientific calculator to someone that's used to using four-function calculators.

It's more of an issue of parents asking why you need a more expensive calc when yours does all you need it to. I've got an 83Se too, but I'd also rather have an 89.

You can't honestly compare it to Bomberkids. Obviously the size of the game, contrast to screen size; is easier and (dare I say it) better on 92+ and V200 calculators. Bomberkids is mere black/white but the gameplay is great.
I'll have to download Bomberdude one day and try it on a 92+. ;-P

Bomberkid for the 83+ was the program that made me want to program Bomber Dude. Bomberkid is really a great multiplayer game for the z80 calcs, you might not believe it at first but lot's of strategy can be involved when you use well the dig and shoot bonuses.
Also, try the 4 player mode when there only is two players; it's extremely fun to control 2 players at the same time (even more strategy is involved to make combos !).
There is one flaw though: the bonus which enable one player to steal the others players bombs is unfair.

Is a 4 player link possible? Ie: parallel or series switch.

No. The four player in Bomberkids is possible by using two different sets of buttons on two calculators.
