TiLP v6.75 Released
Posted by Michael on 21 September 2004, 13:47 GMT

Romain Liévin has released a new version of his linking software TiLP for Linux and Windows. Version 6.75 adds 84 Plus and 89 Titanium support and a 89 Titanium/V200 ROM dumper. The direct USB links on the 84+ and 89 Titanium are not yet supported, however. Those calculators can connect through any of the standard cables. Be sure to try out this great program, especially if you've been using TI Connect.

At long last, I am free from the cluches of TI. Or rather the poor PC side programming of TI for the graphing calculators. Either way, I like TiLP way better than TIConnect.

And a better looking program means it's a better program overall? I hope not...

Can you send any calc programs anywhere from your computer via the context menu using TiLP? Or update the APPs and OS with just a click?

I don't use apps. As far as OS's go.... Well, I got to them *eventually* as is when I used ti products back in the day.

That's a shame. There are quite a few good APPs out there: Omincalc, Symbolic, MirageOS... just to name a few.

Questions why an 89 even needs programs as it's too elite for APPs...

Let me see...

In the area of math programs, the unit circle and partial fraction decomposition come to mind.

Use expand() on one polynomial divided by another and the calc does partial fraction decomposition.

On the Windows 98 computer I used to use, the context menu options to send a file to the calculator never worked anyway... :)

Quick - does this new version steal file associations, even with the tick box unticked, and does default to the "My Documents" folder or its own?

TI Connect does the same file association stealing. There it is pick which icons you want. As far as tha My Docs, I have my desktop used as a my documents folder, with the registry hack set for the desktop as the my documents. Basically, it is easier for me to use TiLP than define my own folders in TICONNECT.

Who said anything about TI Connect? I don't use that... I use FastLink, or TI-GraphLink for Apps/OS upgrades.

Hmm, I remember trying my 89T with TiLP before and having it work when set to just plain 89... What exactly had to be added to make it 'compatible?'? (Or are we just talking about the autodetect?)

I can't wait for the ebuild for it to get updated. :D

You're right: TI89 Titanium can be used with TiLP as a TI89 (same thing for TI84+). But, I have added ROM dumping support and OS upgrade did not work as TI89/TI83+.

So basically, nothing really important until we get an emulator that supports them or TI releases an OS upgrade. :)

An emulator should comes soon ;-)

I'm actively working on TiEmu (Linux/Win32/Mac OS-X), too. It's supporting: TI89, 92, 92+, V200PLT. TI89 Titanium is currently working with patched ROM only (ROM patched by Extended and emulated as a TI89).

So are there now ROM dumpers included for the 84 and SE? I've been considering updating TilEm to support them, but that's rather difficult and not much practical use without the ability to dump their ROM.

No, there aren't because I don't know TI83/84 asm programming. If someone can write a ROM dumper for TiLP, I will be very happy :-))

You're talking about TiLEM... Do you think to take over it ?
