Help Wanted
Posted by Morgan on 27 May 2004, 03:36 GMT

Last summer 2,476 programs were given screenshots, and this summer the plan is to get the rest of the assembly files complete. We had a great turnout last summer and we hope this summer will be the same. If you would like to help out this summer, any help would be put to use, even if you want to make screenshots for BASIC files. There are no rules and it's all done in your own time whenever you want. If you are willing to help e-mail me and I'll set you up with what you need to know.

I am also looking into the possibility of getting you guys community service hours (if you need them), however at the moment nothing is set in stone. I'll post updates. And finally I would like to point out that Brandon has uploaded a few level sets, the first in nearly 2 years, for Super Mario 86, the best program ever made :-)

Update (Joey): As suggested on the comment boards by Ben Cherry, it would be a great idea if people would rate each file after they make a screenshot, to make the rating system more effective.

What does one have to do for this?
Is it just making screenshots with VTI?

All you have to do is make the screenshots. Everything else at the current time is done by myself. Thus you don't have to use the upload form or anything,. If you send me an e-mail within the day you will get an e-mail that explains in detail a little more about whats going on.

of course not. That's because when you have a tie for, say, 7th place, both people are numbered 7. But the person next on the list is not number 8, because there are already 8 people ahead of him, so he takes number 9...

Well, that's how they do it at most competitions. I was at this one science tournament thing and in one event, there were 6 teams with a perfect score, so they all got first place, and then there were 8 teams that missed just one, and they all got 7th place.

This is off topic, but has anyone ever considered removing emails from program description pages (and the like) in the interest of protecting ourselves from spam harvestors?
