Star Wars; Space Shoot Out
Posted by Michael on 4 January 2004, 17:27 GMT

[Star Wars]Two space games for the 89 have been released: The first is Star Wars by Vincent Corfdir. It's a shoot-em-up featuring the X-Wing and Snow Speeder craft from the movie, and runs on the 92+ and Voyage 200 as well.

[Space Shoot Out]Secondly, Greg Miller has released Space Shoot Out, requiring a kernel such as PreOS. Each of the six levels is played with a story regarding your mission, then the goal is to defeat the enemies and the boss. In comparison to the popular game Phoenix, Space Shoot Out has the shop available during play for upgrades at nearly any time.

Just about all of the recent games I've seen recently *have* been for the 68k ones...

One of my friends got an 89 for Christmas. Has no idea how to use it yet, but he's got it.

By the way, great work on the games!

Kernel?

Why does Space Shoot Out require a kernel? I don't see any reason why this is using kernel mode.

Well, if I were you, I'd get one... somehow. Christmas is a good time to ask for one as a possible present (though, it's a bit late for that, now). When your birthday coming up? That would be a good idea too...

My birthday's in about 6 months, but unfortunately, my parents would never buy me another calc-I have 2 already, and they probably wouldn't think that I need another one badly enough for them to spend money on it. Also, I just got a strat as my christmas present from them, so they're probably not going to get me any expensive presents any time soon (not that I can blame them for that....).

A Fender Stratocaster?

Ooooo... those are quite cool; I play a steel-stringed acoustic however. Fingerpickin' good!

It's nice having an electric-I can and do build my own distortion boxes, allowing me to play hard rock/metal how it's *supposed* to sound.

Tell them it's for programming purposes, not gaming. That might change their minds. Programming is educational and all that stuff... so most parents shouldn't be able to argue with that (except for the cost of the calculator).

Haha, my birthday is Dec. 22, and I forgot to ask for an 89 for both Xmas and b-day.

Umm, this does seem to be a little easy. I mean, I was able to get the "Doom" wepon on the third stage. Not to mention, it is kind of slow.

Even with out the repeating key glitch in VTI, I would still be doing as well as I am doing. Speaking of which, thanks to the glitch I am playing the game tight now, and doing quite well.

I tappears that you can use the repeating key glitch on starwars as well. The only difference being that you cannot come here and post while playing StarWars, because your bullets do not blanket the whole screen.

Hey, yeah I’m sorry about it being easy - I kept fiddling with prices - however whenever someone tested the game.. they didn't get a lot of money so I thought that they were fair even thought it was easy for me, but i am the designer.. Anyway what is the repeating key glitch? Also is there anything you do like, ie: story, bosses, shop... This was, after all, my first full tigcc game ever so obviously my skills will grow with each project - and I am planning a sequel in grayscale and a level-parsing engine so I don't have to waste prog mem with built in levels.. thus I cant make 12 levels and a steeper level of difficulty. Anyway I hope you do enjoy SSO, and I thank you all for the feedback, so I can make better games in the future!

I haven't played the game _yet_ (I absolutely will) but I can answer your question about the repeating key glitch. It's not your program, it's VTI. If you hold a key while going to another application, VTI wil continue holding that key until you return...make sense? In this case, I'm assuming he put his ship in the middle of the screen, held shoot, and switched over to his internet application, so VTI kept shooting...Hope this is clear, and no...it is NOT a bug in your program. ;)
