Very Interesting...

I don't recall this news item as concerning the so-called "Brian Rabeler incedent." How come this always ends up being the topic of conversation. It was a heated incident, with a lot of ill feelings, but we have to MOVE ON. It's called "maturity." Now, back to the topic. I'd like to congratulate Mr. Huizing (programmer of SimCity) and all the other winners on a job well-done. Unfortunately, SimCity was the only one of the winning programs I have tried, as my sole calculator is a TI-85.

AMEN! Way to go. My thoughts *exactly.* I am so sick of this topic always coming up. Why does every topic turn into "Let's destroy/defend Bryan"? Does it really mean that much to you people? If it does, I seriously suggest redefining your ideals.

But um, anyway.

OR we could talk about the program of the month... congradulations, Erik, on your win with SimCity. It's quite a work! :)

I agree, I have been watching this game since the first release. Unfortunately, now that it is nearly complete, my ti85 is broke. Damn.
Good job Erik!

Something that''s NOT off-topic!
ZeromsuMog

There's a Phoenix 3.0?! How come nobody told me?! :) Anyway, congrats to the author of Phoenix! It is truly the raddest thing ever to hit assembly! :)

Sup TI Community!

I have several comments to make.

1. Congratulations to the program winners.
2. When I voted, I was not given much of a selection of programs/games to vote for, so I was limited in my choice. Great job, but next time I would like to see more programs and games on the ballot.
3. It seems like no matter what the article is about, it always seems like there is some kind of off-topic "comment fight" occurring. Might I suggest the addition of a message board for general comments (to be added to the menu in the left frame) and perhaps a java-based chatroom? An on-site chatroom will not only eliminate the posting of irrelevant comments but will also lead to more productive conversation/fighting. =) I realize that there are several TI chatrooms on EFnet, but those, I believe, were not organized for the purpose of "flaming."

...And remember, making TI your life and not doing anything (re)productive is like going to hell.

As a member of the TI community I am tired of people saying that news is boring. I usually check all of the major TI sites once a day to see what is happening. I would hate it if all the sites decided to just post major news. If you don't like what Ticalc is posting as news then don't visit the site. I also know that if you send mail to any of the major sites regarding new news that they will post it. So if you think that the current news is boring why not find your own and let them post that. I don't want to hear anybody say that the news is boring every again. These sites just post what they hear and I like the news.

In the ti-83 catagory, I.m suprised the Ucle Worm didn.t win! It.s great! Why would you vote on the update of an already made program? But still congrats to the winers and congrats to the badja. Once again great game!(although i am aware that it is already on calcs like the 92, but LOOK AT THE TRIGINOMETRY!).

Idea
Joseph

I had an idea after looking at the program of the month page. Why not have a screen shot of the winning program? Also why not include a link so people can download these programs.

Re: Idea
Chris

That's a great idea. You guys should also seriously regulate these "Comment" boards by making some heavy rules. Rules such as _keep with the topic_

Thanks, bye

I think this message board has gotten way out of hand. Maybe you (the ticalc staff) should set a board that just deals with the Bryan issue. That way people who actually want to hear opinions about Bryan and all that can go there and the rest of us wouldn't have to trudge through all of the irrevelence. But of course this is my just my opinion.

Suggestion
Nick

I think (seriously) you should create a message board that's subject is general and posts older than, say, 3 or 4 days or so are deleted. That way, if people wanted to post messages about anything they could, and people wouldn't get mad for it being off-topic, etc., etc. You also would get comments actually ABOUT the news under its own comments section. I really don't know what this would take so if it would be too hard just ignore me :)

I got a News Column for you. "Bryan Rabeler Talks Openly with Ticalc.org users in a live comment discussion about his Termination From Ticalc.org." Then you could just move this entire comment board to it. I mean, what the hell, that's basicially whats going on in here anyway.

Personally, Any news I recieve, good or not, is better than no news at all. I can remember times when the news articles were not updated for weeks and they were all site related.

If you dont like how the news is done here, make a page devoted to Ti calculator news and do it yourself. Thats actually whats needed in the Ti community.

Two comments.
Piloter
(Web Page)

1.) Shall we CUT THE BS and discuss on-topic? Let TI-calc make a new board for BS and Brian BS if they choose, I read this thread in anticipation that it would have comments about the SUBJECT...(subtle hint, BTW.)

2.) Phoenix was a well-deserved win, it's a wonderful game. Is it just me, or are those wheel things near-impossible to get past in anything beyond F2 difficulty? I was beating the game in advanced with all the other versions...

(3.) Any possibilities of seeing a 92+ assembly version of Scorched Earth? Or, dare we hope, Nethack / Rogue / ADOM / Moria / etc...?

Wow, the 100th post on a rather mudane news article. I bet there wouldn't have been even 30 had Andy Selle not been such an idiot and confront Brian. 100 posts later, here we are. Back on topic though, I too would like to see scorched earth in assembly. I can't think of a better game that deserves to be done, its a classic.

I don't know if you were talking about TI-82, but if you were then i aggree, it's stupid not to put Galaxian up there. Galaxian is the only game that i've had on my 82 since the first day i got it...

Re: March 1999 POTM Results
Jeremy Baumgartner

This is all stupid. Most of the comments here are regarding Bryan. Why? Who cares if he thinks that? And why did Andy feel the need to trace the IP? It's these things that make this a useless portion of ticalc.org. If you want to blame each other for this and that, e-mail your problems.

Anyway, I'd like to say congrats to the winners of the POTM.
