Doors OS v1.0 and Doors Explorer v1.9 released
Posted on 13 February 1999, 23:34 GMT

The Doors Team has released Doors OS v1.0 for the TI-89 and TI-92 Plus, as well as Doors Explorer v1.9 for the TI-89 and TI-92 Plus. This new version of Doors OS mostly fixes bugs and is no longer in beta. Doors Explorer v1.9 fixes some bugs as well as adds a new setup screen, a new protection function, and a small help file. This should be the final release of both programs.

Does this new version still crash all the time. I had doors on my calculator before and all the time (doing simple things) it would lock up and i would have to remove the battery. I took it off for that reason but if it dosnt crash I'll put it back on.

Since I installed the new version of Doors, it has never had any problems, except for the (un)protect bug mentioned above. This version is extremely stable, and doesn't crash like previous versions.

After my calc crashed, I installed the new version of Doors, and to my surprise I found that my password was still functionall (i.e. was the same as I changed it to) Why is that?

Did you have the same userlib that you previously had on you calc, that's what saves you passwords

What do you mean with GUI?... The doors explorer is a great GUI!...

He probably means a GUI like Windows where programs can use standard user interfaces.

the GUI prog issue
KAKE

that brings up an interresting thought. are there really useful programs out there for 89asm? it seems that besides the standard (but very useful) periodic table. hell, there isn't much besides games in asm for any of the calcs. but then again, what would you want to do on a calc? i think i'm wandering; hold on i'll be right back.

ok, that's better. if anyone has any ideas for asm _programs_ (NOT games) please email me. and as for the gui issue, as of now, there doesn't seem to be much need for such an item. interresting idea though. here's another interesting idea: an easy to use graphical asm coder. unfortunately, we're losing all our good pc coders.

well, enough rambling, i'll be quiet.

Doors is a great shell. I would like TI to release the information on the calculator as promised in the guidebook. I encourage anyone who wants TI to release the information or any TI-89 or TI-92+ user to fill out the form at http:// www.ti.com /calc/docs /feedback.htm
Note: The actual url does not have the spaces inserted. BTW: Is there any more information about the petition?

Fargray, Util
Kevin Moore

I'm having problems with my libaries in general. Anything that uses fargray or util doesn't work. If I run it straight from the TI89 homescreen, it says something like "File not valid:fargray."
And within Doors, it gives a similar error. I have the latest fargray and util as far as I can tell. What am I doing wrong? BTW, greytest, graytst and gray7 all work - they don't use fargray or util...

More on fargray
Kevin Moore

I deleted fargray and tried another pic that requires it - now the calc says "Library not found:fargray." So apparently, before it was telling me fargray was corrupt?? How is this possible??

Re: More on fargray
KAKE

perhaps it (the app) was meant to run with an earlier verson of fargray. i know that was the case with phoenix 1.0 for the 89. it required an earlier version of util, so of course it didn't work because all the other progs needed the new version. thankfully 2.0 fixed this, but it still doesn't look quite right...

NEVERMIND. ALL PROBLEMS FIXED.

Except that a few programs aren't compatible with DoorsOS, like Tetris, or Mario89.

Tell you what: There is a version of Tetris that will work with Doors OS. Be sure you have Plusshell libs, though (you know, gray4lib, util...) As for Mario92 (wonder why they didn't change the number), I say SMQ kicks ass.

why hasnt ticalc.org updated since the 13th?

if you haven't noticed, there hasn't been any news for anything ti-related for quite some time. none of the other sites (dim-ti, ti-files) have said much lately. hell, ti-files never says much ever.

What games don't work with the latest version of DoorsOS for the TI-89? I have not been able to get Tetris or Pheonix (one of my fav's) to work. Is there a way around this. Any help would be appreciated.

You're not missing any libraries, are you? Phoenix was written to use Plusshell libraries, like util, gray4lib, etc.

Re: Re: Re: Doors OS v1.0 and Doors Explorer v1.9 released

I don't think I'm missing any libraries (especially since it worked before the new doors). I might just have to play around with different versions of the libraries. Any other suggestions would be helpful, though, if anyone has them.
