Baseball '99 v1.0 released
Posted on 23 December 1998, 20:42 GMT

Sam Heald has released Baseball '99 v1.0 for the TI-82 (Ash) and TI-83 (AShell83). This game is based on a handheld LCD game by Tiger Electronics as well as a TI-83 BASIC game by Bill Nagel. Features include three modes of play (HomeRun Derby, Exhibition, and Season), real baseball teams and rules, fast gameplay, and good graphics. There are no current plans for a TI-85 or TI-86 port. Sam plans to optimize the source code and release it later.

Sam has also released Pac-Man 99 v0.5 for the TI-82 (Ash) and TI-83 (SOS).

This game is okay, but when the ball gets to you it's hard to tell when to hit it, also the ball is kinda slow. Other than that... it's great... Especially for a first original. Keep up the good work Sam!!

You know what else is pretty crazy. I own the tiger handheld too. (If I know which one you're talking about...it was green, had annoying sounds, and a terrible screen :P)

BEEP-BEEP-BEEP BEEP-BEEP-BEEP .. BZZZZZZT!

BEBEBEBEEEP ... (blinking HOME RUN) BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

yep, annoying sounds... But that damned thing still ruled. <g>

Heh, and I always had problems with the plastic overlay ... the glue dried out and came undone.

SIDE THOUGHT: The Usgard Bomb Sweeper game .. am I the only one that *has* the original Nintendo handheld of *that,* too?

This is the first time in a long time ticalc.org has been updated at 10pm GMT (or 2pm PT). I guess it's because of winter break.

I personally don't care for baseball, but I'll be sure to try this game out when I have time.

This just makes me want to go out and buy an 82...there's so many great games on that calc. Yours included.

You will end up wishing you got a TI-86. You can always emulate TI-82 games on a TI-86, you know.

and then when he gets an 86, he will hate himself because he wasted his money when he should have gotten an 89

And the same thing goes when he hears of the 92+...then the HP48 (but those are almost unheard of). That's why I have more than one calculator--you can enjoy the best of more than one world!

How exactly do you do that Eugene??

I'm not an expert on this stuff (I don't have a TI-86 and a computer emulator would be basically useless), but I think you run the 82p or 85s through a program that converts it to 86p. I know ASE supports this.

I am so glad that somebody actually took the great game made by Bill Nagel and made an exhibition and HOME RUN DERBY option. Sooner or later I was going to do that but Sam, ya beat me to it! Great job! =)

as I don't have the calculator for it, could
someone tell me what's so great about SMQ that
sets it apart from the other Mario games on the
Ti's? I'm just curious.
