New icon for files with screenshots
Posted on 29 September 1998, 01:50 GMT

A new icon has been created to designate which File Information pages have screenshots. This should make finding files with screenshots easier.

We now have about 1,000 screenshots in the archive, and hope to start putting the rest up soon.

Great idea. I'd like it even better if more files had the screenshots though.

I've noticed that only newly posted TI-BASIC games have this new red icon next to them. I wonder if any ASM games are going to have pics. On the up side, a few games have 5 or 6 pics!! Excellent...

I thought it was 92/89 vs. 86/85/83/82 not ASM vs. Basic. The first group listed has pics and the other calcs' games do not.

just a thought...

don't forget it takes a little more effort to get a screen shot of a asm game... cant just do a screen capture like you can on a basic game.

ti 86 has a program for screen capturing
tenalibabu

I had a program which captures the screen at anytime even in asm. I downloaded it at ticalc.org. I forget the name though. Then you can send that ***.86i file to ticalc.org and they will post it. Atleast that's what i think they do

if you need to make screen shots for 83 assembly games you can use my program "Capture 83!" it saves the screen to a pic and then you can copy that to the computer. oh wait, i just had a better idea, you could use Emu 83. you can save the screen as a bitmap just like that!

Do you happen to have a .rom file for an 83? I have an 83, but I do not have a graph link, and I would like to use the emulator. Thanks.

Can people update their previous files on the archives with screenshots?

No--screenshots are only being handled by ticalc.org. I don't think they're going to change that.

Then that sucks! Either the TIcalc.org crew needs to get off their buts and take pics, or they need to open a screenpic submition cgi or something. This is not going to work if the TIcalc crew decides what games get pics, how many they get, and of what part of the prog the pics are taken from.

I don't know if anyone aggrees with me, but I stand that TIcalc.org NEEDS to let the programmers submit the pics. They could put a limit on the #, but then at least it would be the author's fault and not TIcalc.org's.

It would be up to the author to decide if his prog is worthy enough to post a pic of, instead of winning the merit of TIcalc's approval. TIcalc doesn't represent the opinion of %100 of the TI calc community.

I totally disagree with you! ticalc.org is /not/ deciding which programs are worthy enough and which ones aren't! Look at the news articles! They added one staff member, who has only a TI-92. He's in charge of screenshots. As explained in the article, that's why there are only 92 screenshots right now.

Now, every single program is going to have screenshots. But there are five thousand seven hundred ninety files! 5,790! That takes a long time to do. Just be patient and some day there will be 2-3 screenshots each for every program.

For right now, just chill. Geez!

We thought about doing that. But the problem is that we want all the images to be 2 colors (unless it's a grayscale program) and the right size based on which calculator it is. The TI-Graph Link software will add a 2-pixel border on screenshots it takes, so the image must be edited. If we allowed authors to submit screenshots, it would take time to make sure the screenshots are valid and appropriate.

We plan to have screenshots for every file in our archive. But since we have almost 5,800 files now, that is going to take a while to do.

So, basically everyone can sit back, rest assurred, knowing that the pics of their programs they want to show will be up within the next year or so. Not that I've written many programs worth showing.....yet

Yeah,

TI-Files is terrible lately. You can never connect and they update like once a week, but they back date programs they put up to try to fool people. They also have stupid sections like PUDs(which is never kept up) and MOO.(whatever that is) They will probably close soon since every goes to ticalc.org

First of all... did you read (when you submit) where it says "Constructive and relevant comments only; no flames. Especially no posts relating to web site competition"? I don't really care anymore what you say about TI-Files (in fact I agree with most of it), but you should respect the guidelines. As for the answer to your question, some people still like TI-Files better, most like ticalc.org better, some even like Dimension-TI best. It's just your opinion...
