Over 1.1 million requests last week
Posted on 27 September 1998, 02:34 GMT

The weekly record has been broken again as 1.1 million requests were amassed last week, which also marked the 10th straight weekly increase. For a more in-depth view of our stats, check out the Web Server Statistics page.

September 1998 is also the busiest month on record with over 3.5 million requests. With an average of 150,000 requests per day, this month should end out around 4 million requests.

We thank our many loyal visitors for making this all possible. Look for a new section to open in about a week or two. :)

I think that one explanation for this many "requests" is because of the news on the Front page. Whenever this site gets a _Hit_, That includes like 10 requests of pictures from the news, and what about those little Icon pictures that are by every program update that goes to the information about the program, do those count as requests, cuz there are like 100 of those everytime this site is accessed...?

I read back there in the posts that someone asked how many HITS this site had, but Not requests, and someone immediatly flamed them "This is requests! not Hits you dumb-... blah blah" I think the person was aware of the idea of a "request" and he, I As Well, would like to know the number of Hits this site has had since the beginning... How come this site doesnt have a Hits Counter? It could fit very well under the Site Search image link, and accesseing that Counter every time would boost up the "requests" even more eh? Well, whatever...

It is my understanding that only 1 request is recorded for the little fileinfo icon, even though it appears on the page many times, because it is the same file. So once the browser loads the file the first time, it doesn't need to load it 20 more times for the same page.

I just experienced one of the worst signs of incompetence in the ticalc.org staff. I was on IRC, and I asked a question about ticalc.org/experiment, a pw protected section of ticalc.org (check it out). I was then kicked for asking it. I then rejoined, and they decided to ban me because I was on AOL (it was Cubic). He then kb'd me on #calc-ti as well, just for being on AOL. Even though I am using AOL, I hate it. It's not my fault that I'm on it, as it's the only thing that my parents will use. I just wan't to say that this is an outrage, that good people on AOL are being banned from ticalc's IRC channel.

Where did you find out about /experiment?

#ti and #calc-ti are not official IRC channels of ticalc.org. Cubic is also not a ticalc.org staff member. I reget that Cubic did that to you. I'll investigate it.

******COME AND READ THIS, EVERYONE******
Sam I am

So, what do we have to do for you or someone to tell us what /experiment is. BTW, /experiment is listed in the site stats page for all the world to see, so it isnt so secret, thats how he found out. My guess is that experiment is either a trial set-up of PUD or a place for developers to post their comments on things. Since anyone can claim to be Clem (as I someone did, since I dont think that Clem would call anyone a dumbass in a comment post...), /experiment is a secure place (password protected) for developers to place their real comments. Of course, this is all speculation, but I wish some one would shed some light on this...

/experiment is a testing place where we put up experimental sections for the staff to test out before we open them up to the public.

Like the guy (almost) said, a trial set-up page. Its cool and all, we shouldnt be snooping around with the future parts of ticalc, since it might look and work like crap (I chose to use a less strong word since some fools have decided to curse enough to make any foul words seem out of place and unwelcomed...) before it is worked to perfection (like the site you see before your very own eyes) that is ticalc. Leave the staff alone with this psswrd prtct stuff, they have better things to do. I am sure whatever changes are made, they will have been carefully planned and close to perfection. I am just calling it like I see it...

I can't believe some of you people!! If you're such a fan of the TI-Files..then why are you posting your rude and unneeded comments on this site? ticalc.org isn't out here to make your site look bad... they aren't here to insult you or damage the patronage of your server... so why are you becoming so aggravated? Did Ticalc ever even mention the Files? no, not that i'm aware of. Did Ticalc go to your site and start sending tossing all sorts of flames at you? i sincerely doubt it. so why don't you go ahead and start improving your own sever hits by spending a little more time not being rude to us and this site!!!

I don't know about that. In several of the Files newsletters and polls, Bryan Rabeler is mentioned for trashing the Files.

First of all, worryrock listen up here - I find absolutely no grounds for suit of ticalc.org if they put PUDs on your page. Second, unnecessary vulgarity, everyone! I don't even swear that much in #ti =) Third, if you are whining and moaning about people being lackluster in the output of 89 ASM games, WRITE THEM YOURSELVES! The ends justify the means. If being entertained in your math and science classes matters that much to you, nobody's stopping you from learning ASM and creating games. In fact, most people encourage it -- this is a medium where profits are completely out of the question and all ASM programmers work out of the sheer goodness of their hearts. Don't chew someone out just because they're slacking off (which is doubtful) - they could be doing much worse by not working at all. Fourth (in relation to the #ti incident yesterday), People shouldn't be so persistent about things that don't concern them. I don't give half a rat's ass about what /experiment/ is because I, like most other people, have the patience to see what it is when ticalc goes thru a major update or overhaul or whatever the heck it is. /experiment/ is a password-locked folder; that means you shouldn't be snooping around in it and annoying the Staff as to what it is =P

Okay, that's enough of my gripe. If you have any qualms to voice, e-mail me at bluecalx@antisocial.com or post back here.

This comment section has turned into a lame, flame board. For example, BlueCalx's posting. ;P Or is that WorryRock. Either way, WorryRock : You wonder why people poke fun towards the files. Basically, its your blatent attitude in exorbantly showing off your multitude of neurons existing in your brain. :)

If you disagree, step up then punks. I dont want to here any whiners either so dont come whining to me.

I was also chatting in the mIRC chat room #ti and I was quickly banned by this Cubic for being from AOL. It is an outrage that people like the Cubic are so predjiduce as to ban people for their ISP, what next, Cubic, are you going to ban me because I'm black, or because I'm a Jew?

Hey, I resent that, being a black jew myself. (j/k, btw).

IRC Qualms
NickD
(Web Page)

Though IMHO AOL sucks fecal matter dingleberry and AOL is the "#1 online service" because all their customers are too stupid and ignorant to go anyplace else, I don't let that get in the way of my judgement as an op in #ti. BY NO MEANS do the actions of any ops/masters/owners in #ti reflect the opinions of bryan/andy/magnus. If someone acts anal-retentive towards AOLers in #ti, it doesn't necessarily mean that the staff feels the same way.

Man, I need to cut down on my posts here =)

Does anybody notice that these comments seem to always turn into a shouting match of how stupid everybody else is? Man, if you wanna play who has the biggest dick, please, don't do it in the ticalc.org comments section.

For all you people that are wondering how many hits this site gets, It's in the web server statistics for Ticalc.org. Under the Request report, the file Frame.html was accessed 196364 times as of 9/30/98. I dont know whether this log is updated monthly or yearly, but if you want to know the hits to this site, thats the closest thing your going to find

BTW, This comment section hasen't been working for awile. It would either show noting after it loaded or show half of the posts. Must be all the Flames :P

That 196364 is how many times frame.html has been accessed in the last 4 weeks or so. So that comes to about ~7000 per day.

It is my understanding that everything _below_ the hourly report is for the last 4 weeks only. And everything else (above and including the hourly report) is since the site moved to the server in Sweden.
